The first meeting for the new Upper Midwest Sprintcar Series (UMSS) will be held on Saturday October 25 at the Settlement in Somerset, Wisconsin. The Settlement is 1.5 miles north of Somerset on Wisconsin 35. The meeting will start at 11:30am. The Settlement is located on the west side of the road and it's got log cabin siding so it should be easy to find.

The Settlement is going to provide a room for the meeting and we want to let them know how many people to expect for staffing purposes. Please RSVP by email to Chuck Priefer at [email protected] or to Stan Meissner at [email protected] and I will forward your reply to Chuck. Lunch will not be provided by the meeting organizers but you'll be able to order your own food and drinks during the meeting.

Be sure to let everyone you think might be interested know about this meeting. I'm only going to post it here on my board so I can monitor the posts and keep it on topic. This is an informatonal post to let you know when and where the meeting will be held and it's not about motors, tires, purses, etc. Bring your questions and concerns about those things to the meeting or send them along with someone you know who will be attending.

Where else did you post this Stan? Hoseheads? 20/20? I'll probably run over there and hear what the swampman has to say...

I did not post on any other message board because I am the moderator of this board but I can't delete the rip rap on those other boards. The 40 (20/20) is the last place I'd post if I wanted to have a serious discussion. HH isn't much better. We want to keep this on subject so we don't discourage participation.

Please spread the word to everyone you think might be interested.

I am only the messenger and am not a spokesman for the series. Details will be explained at the meeting by people who actually know what they're talking about.

I would be very interested in attending this and could probably find a few other guys that would be, is there a date that we would have to RSVP by?

We don't have a date to RSVP by, the only reason we would like to know how many are going to be there is so the owner at the restaurant has enough staff on hand to handle a the crowd of people that are going to attend. We are hoping that those who come to this meeting will buy some lunch because they are nice enough to give us this meeting room at no cost. So I would think by Monday Oct 20th, that would give us enough time to let them know how many people are going to be there.

I spoke against this when I first heard about it because I thought somebody was trying to re-invent the wheel.

As far as I know now, the Midwest Sprint Association uses these rules. They have lots of cars and lots of different feature winners.

I realize I'm just a man with a keyboard, but I put my foot in my mouth earlier, and I'd like to take this opportunity to pull it out.

I would think you would want to post some information about your (UMSS) Series on here to get drivers and or potential sponsors interested in coming to this meeting rather than holding a hotdog out in front of them like you are. What do you have to offer the 360 or 410 drivers that is not already being offered in the midwest?

We already have put info on this board, go to the main page for Gotomn.com and the rules are there for everyone to read. They are not set in stone, that's what the meeting is going to inform people about. If you don't want to come, don't, if your there, good. But if your not there, don't come on here and complain because things didn't go in the direction that you wanted it to. I'm not involved in this series to have a pissing match with anyone. We're here to bring sprint car racing back around the Twin Cities. Last year there were 3 races within 140 miles (Brainerd) of the Twin Cities, next year we plan to have more. We are not trying to take anything away from Arlington or Jackson, they have their own deal. And we also plan on having fun doing this, whether your a car owner, spectator or driver. If we can't have fun, why do it? And if things go my way, we will be taking the wings off at a few races on some short tracks.

Chuck,

You going to dust off the 80 and put the old man back in it??? That would be cool!!!

Chuck,

Our team went to most of the ASCS NP shows and a few Jackson and Arlington races. We were told that we can run the same engine program at the new Cedar Lake UMSS, is this true? We will be attending the October 25 meeting, but how about a little advance information so race teams can start some kind of planning?

Jeez Christy, I don't remember this much controversy when Cedar Lake decided to add the Midwest Modifieds. I get the impression from your post that you don't live in Somerset, New Richmond, Oakdale, Forest Lake, Osceola or Stillwater. Those are just a few of the places where most of the 100+ weekly racers at Cedar Lake live. All they're doing is trying to get something going here on the east side of the Metro and western Wisconsin. I'm sure Arlington will still have their 18-20 cars every Saturday night. If they don't it will probably be more the fault of a bad economy than anything that comes out of that meeting at the Settlement on the 25th.

Don't make any decisions based on my guesses. I'm reading between the lines just like everyone else on some of this but I'll know more details after the 25th.
