OK...someone refresh my memory on who posted something to the effect that "Henderson was one of the top 5 drivers in the country"? i recall some sort of tension a few weeks back on this issue and completely forget the context because half of the thread ended up deleted.
Port Royal Speedway - Tuscarora Prelim Night - draw for position (no TTs) - mid thirties car count - (4) 8 lap heats - (5) qualify - top (3) redraw for first (6) rows of A main.
no notepad in hand - working from memory here.
attrition night - cars blowing engines - rear ends - wings folding down - early exits while running well. good track conditions until waning laps of A main - rubber down racing on the bottom.
Heat action - can't recall the grid - Henderson runs 6th - DNQ
B main (10 laps) - starts in 2nd row - contact occurs on the way to the green flag - not sure who hit whom first - don't think the 22z car was involved - another car does stop on the track in turn 4.
Restart - the #49 of Howard jumps the cushion in turn 2 of early going while running near the front, Henderson hits him and they both stop on the track - Henderson rejoins the field after a stop in the work area. then about lap 7 - he rams the outside rail of turn 2 while squirrelling around the back of the pack. (4) cars qualified in the B main and maybe 5 or 6 were still running at the time of the wreck. i did not see him hit the wall, because frankly - he was a non factor.
surely this is frustrating - should we be watching for fireworks tomorrow night if something goes wrong?
A main finish
1 - Todd Shaffer / 2 - Mike Erdley / 3- Brian Leppo / 4- Keith Kauffman - Prime Mover from deep in the fiels - passed Montieth on the bottom to take the final lock in spot for tomorrow.
tomorrow nights format - top 4 from tonights A main are locked into an 8 pill draw with the 4 heat winners from tomorrow. essentially a twin 25 format with a pit stop in the middle for fuel, pressure checks etc.
carnage - hellish damage to the yellow 22 of Hodnett with the 89 of Darrah suffering front clip damage in 3-4. Hodnett definitely got the worst of it. they were racing hard for several laps prior for spots near the top 10. again - not sure about the positions - the track only has a top 3 score board with a lap counter.
disclaimer - i don't give a rat's ass if you like the format or the information contained in this post - it can be ignored in less time than it takes to read it.
