Fan Appreciation Night Concludes Friday Night Season

(Chico, CA 8-20-08)...The Feather Falls Casino point championship series comes to an end this Friday night, August 22, with all four divisions racing. Silver Dollar Speedway plays host to the 410-sprint cars, dirt modifieds, wingless sprints and street stocks divisions. Three of the four divisions will crown champions Friday night. The lone division with one more race to go is the wingless division. The season ends September 3, the Wednesday night of the Gold Cup Race of Champions. This Friday night is fan appreciation night. All fans will be admitted to the grandstand side for just $5.00 and children under 11 are free. This night also will host Napa Auto Parts of Orland, Cherry St. Mini Storage and AAA Insurance. All drivers will be trying to win the prestigious and perpetual 6ft. Tall Coca-Cola trophy.

The 410-sprint car championship is coming down to Auburn's Andy Forsberg and Oroville's Sean Becker. Forsberg leads by nine points going into the final night. “It's be a tight battle all year,” said Forsberg. “Sean and I have been racing each other the last five years and it's seems one or both of us are always in the championship battle.” Becker alluded, “Starting off the year I didn't have a solid ride at Chico an thankfully Rod stepped in with help from my family and Cherry St. Mini Storage and we were able to to something together. I am really proud of how good the team has been and it's been a thrill to race Andy again for the championship.” Joining the championship racing will be Mason Moore of Princeton, who sits third in points, and Chico's Jonathan Allard. Allard lat raced in Chico at the end of July and returns to try and get his third win of the year on Friday night. Adding to the excitement will once again be Sammy Swindell. Swindell will pilot the potent Tom Rolfe Trucking #10. Forsberg has won the previous two Coca-Cola nights at Chico. If he can win this Friday not only would he win the championship but also take home the Coca-Cola trophy for good.

The Street Stocks continue to impress at the speedway It's a three car battle with one night to go. Redding's Scott Rogers holds a slim lead over Marysville's Jeff Olschowka and Chico's Heather Bartlett. Rogers is five points ahead of Olschowka while Bartlett is seven back. Bartlett won her second main event of the year last Saturday night. The race for fourth is just as good. Chico's Joe Longmire is holding a two-point cushion over Phil Marino. Olschowka has won the previous two Coca-Cola nights at Chico.

Chico's Richard Papenhausen holds a 29-point advantage over Mark Abouzeid. Papenhausen is in search of his second straight dirt modified crown. Both drivers are very popular at the speedway and each have multiple wins. Papenhausen has two and Abouzeid four. Chico's Darin Ruley sits in the third spot. John Abbott and Mike Sohnrey round out the top five. Sohnrey now has two wins on the there. Abouzeid won this race last year. With a win he could close the year in victory lane. It's the same place he started from at the beginning of the year.

Two more nights of racing and the season will be concluded for the Joe Hunt Magnetos wingless sprints. Keith Bloom Jr. has held a solid for most of the season. Currently, he holds a 45-point lead over Orland's Taylor Simas. Three drivers in the top five have dominated main event wins. Bloom leads with seven, Simas has four and so does fifth place Jimmy Pettit. These three have accounted for 15 wins out of 26 races this year between Chico and Placerville. In between Pettit and Simas are the Browns Valley Bullet's of Mason and Cody Myers. Mason leads Cody by just five-points.
