Just read in the February issue of "Sprint Car & Midget" magazine that Jim Naylor was named 2006 Promoter of the Year by the North American Non-Winged Sprint Car Poll.

They couldn't have done better than Jim Naylor.
To me, what Jim has built with Ventura Raceway is what Saturday night dirt racing in America is all about. If Ventura Raceway ever goes away it will leave a hole the size of Ascot.
Everything you know is wrong.

Jim Naylor should also be declared hardest worker of the year and Im sure will one day recieve Great accolades for his life time of achievements and his outsatnding dedication to racing.
Jim runs a local sign shop, embroidery shop, silk screening shop, mantains all of the track equip. ie tow trucks, tractors, water trucks, quads, bleachers, and sound system. not to mention endless meetings with other promoters, other sanctioning bodies, insurance companeis and doing his best to keep up our good neighbor image with the community.
Preping the track for tune and test days, and during race season,... track prep for Saturdays race begins on Wednesday. On Sat he opens the track,.. ussually around 7 or 8 am, parkinglot prep, meetings with the staff, keeping brother bret intertained, more track prep, then he on the mich. "Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the home of the 2007 Ventura County Fair and the best little dirt track in America, at this time we'd like to ask every to please stand for the playing of our national anthum,....... gentlemen please remove your hat". after that hes on the mich most of the night, locating the parents of lost children, doing interviews, listening to drivers complain about the race track, announcing birthdays, back on the grader, then the water truck, reading off line ups, announcing Main events, post race interviews, now back on the grader to get the track ready for Cory's school on Sunday.
We here in the Southern California area are fair more fortunaite then we know
On behlaf of the fans, drivers and owners,..... Thank you Mr Naylor for All you do

I agree Kevin...
Very dedicated, hard working fellow... hell keeping up with Brudder Brett is a fulltime job.
There going to be new Kevin the Calculator shirts for '07? Put me
down for a couple in 'Buzzard' size if there are. You planning to run
the perris opener? I kept saying I wasnt going to go but my parents are
in town from back home and I imagine we will end up there.

Congrats Mr. Naylor on a very well deserved (and maybe late in coming) award!!
I've been going to Ventura since the late 70's to watch TQ's, and I even ran a few kart race's on both the small and big track in the 80's. There certainly have been some great drivers there in all divisions and some barn burners there in TQ's, midgets and Sprints!
When I first heard they were going to run midgets at my little track at the beach, i was excited, when I heard they were going to run sprint cars, I thought Jim was crazy! Sure glad they did, as Ventura raceway just might of saved 410 racing in So Cal forever!
Back in the 70's, or even 80's, who would of ever thought Ventura would have their own Sprint Car Division, let alone two if you count their Senior Division. Ventura Raceway and Jim are what everything is good about open wheel dirt racing and if you have a free Saturday Night, there is nothing better than a night "At the Best Little Dirt Track In America"

Jim certainly deserves getting this special honor for all of his hard work and dedication. Although I do not agree with some of the things he does, he still has my respect for all the positive things he has been able to accomplish with our series which is by far the strongest 360 club in the country with a lot of very talented drivers. I cant wait for the season to get started, and I look forward to the track putting on the best show there is for the fans.
