I've heard that next year the Tournament of Champions will not be run, and that the Casey's 410 show will take it's place on Sunday. This would leave Thurs. Fri. Sat. exclusive to the 360 Nats. If that's the case, would it hurt or help the 410 car count Sunday, and also the FRC on Monday? I know the crowd count should be better on Sunday.

I also heard they might not be having the ToC next year but they were going to discuss what to replace it with.

I for one would hate to see that happen. The addition of the 410 class saturday lead to a drivers racetrack for the 360 a main. If you just run 360 features, you end up with a cushion only halfway up the track, follow the leader train racin. It's not broke, please don't try to fix it.........

A big paying 305 sprint car race would be good! Then you would have every form of sprint car racing all in one week!!!

I can see their point though. We had 145 cars Saturday night in the pits, and about that many people in the stands for Sunday night. The ToC has always been a great race, but year after year proves that 360's just don't put butts in the stands. I could see 305's run as a support to the 410's on Sunday. Most everyone that has run the ToC are already there for the 360 Nats.

That would be a great way to piss off the Huset's drivers who would be running for points at both tracks by running Sunday in Knoxville.

It's possible that eliminating the ToC would hurt the 360 Nationals, too. I think that there are some teams that run the 360 Nationals because they are qualified for the ToC. So it's possible that some of the quality cars from way out of town wouldn't be there. I'd imagine that the ASCS/Lucas Oil deal would include the 360 Nationals being televised, so that might help replace the car count.
Also, moving the 410 show to Sunday night would put the 360 Nationals finals all alone on Saturday, which would bring a smaller crowd and perhaps lead to a lower purse in the future.
Of course, this is all just my speculation!

In the past, there's been point leaders, and even top 3 in points at Husets, that collectively chose not to go back on Sunday. If a point leader at Husets is already in Knoxville, they have a better chance of making more money racing that one night here than winning the Championship at Husets. That's not Knoxville's problem....

I think that the Ruben’s just need to not schedule a race for that weekend, besides most of the drivers will be at Knoxville anyways. I know it won't happen. Just my thoughts.

If the Ruben's want any knoxville cars at the track next year, theyre going to have to put up ( $$$$$ ) or shut up and since we all know our beloved area promoters here in SD, it probably wont happen so I dont see how there could be any conflict next year....it is too bad too, because drivers from there should come up and run Huset's...it would give them the experience needed to maybe go out on the road.

305 are a good race car but Knoxville is such a big half mile that they are kinda boring to watch. More like a drag race

The Dingus got a bigger crowd Sunday than the snoozers did at Iowa Speedway.

i'd like to see a non wing show at kville on that sunday but keep the 410's on saturday to help widen out the track. Or invite only 50 to the ToC and have the ToC and non wing cars run sunday. anything that involves more racing

That was before it was 10 grand to win the points title, which it is this year...

Well, I don't think Knoxville would take away the 410s on Saturday night because they'd probably only have about 2500 fans and that Lucas Oil deal would fall flat on its face for its biggest race. Knoxville has to protect 360s with 410s on Saturday night. Maybe they would try to run a bigger paying 410 show on Sunday? I heard they might try that.
Didn't the All Stars or somebody run races the week before 410 Nationals this year? If Knoxville gave Saturday to the 360s, that would open more drivers to following that deal, wouldn't it? If Knoxville ran on Sunday, that would tick off a track that already has 410s like Husets. Why would Husets not run for two weeks? That hardly seems fair.
Remember when they used to have races during the State Fair in Des Moines? I used to go there all the time when I was a kid. I think a sprint car show in Des Moines would be a neat idea leading up to Nationals. Anybody listening World of Outlaws or All Stars? About 12,000 seats and a great potential audience. Maybe a Monday race (sorry TMac) where people can take in the fair and races to boot. And you wouldn't have to deal with the drunks at Oskaloosa. What could be more American and apple pie than a sprint car race at the fair?
Any takers on a deal like that?
Maybe I don't know much about the business of racing...I'm just a fan that got interested when Bill Moyer had sprint cars back in the '60 when he was my neighbor, but I'd like to see something new.

kville got a good crowd on the 4th of july with $5 entry and $2 beer and that was just for 305's and dirt trucks. they should consider something like that with as many people that will be here for a sunday show

Sprints during the state fair? The people on the midway might not like a sprint car flying at them. Ofcourse Sunday would be before the state fair started. But yeah, i think one reason they don't do Sprint while the fair is going is cause the midway is like 15 ft behind turn 1.
