Wish I had gone. I spend a thousand dollars to go to Manzy for a traditional sprint car show but won't drive 100 mile to see one in my backyard. Oh well.....

Nice field with Clayton joining the party. How about the midget results?

we left after the 8th caution in the midget feature (which was ran last). 31 sprint bandits. i think 23 midgets, and 28 non wing 600's. rain came at 715 and made the place an absolute mud pit. heats started at 830. worked out in the end. made the track so heavy we never ate dust. but yet again - i'm sure its the best race I'll see in 2008 - just as last year. every race was awesome. heavy and smooth for the most part. fast from bottom to cushion. some bad wrecks - but they were racing each other hard. swindell flipped again. Bacon won in exciting fashion over Ballou - who spun Dave Darland while he was in 2nd. i mean every race wa sjust AWESOME. even knew as we were watching it - it was the best race we would see this year (until january 09). knoxville 360's were great - im sure the STN's will be as well.

but almost 80 non wing sprints on an excellent track in oklahoma. just priceless. the only downer was the last race - the smrs midgets. man that sucked. they just piddly farted around. took forever after the pushed the cars on the track to even begin to push em off. we kept thinkin that all those that left were fools as there was another great race left. 45 minutes later they had completed 7 laps. had a ton of yellows - but would screw about and make em long ones. as we left they went a lap - another yellow. as we made it to the car and left - another yellow. a lesser ending to an otherwise PERFECT night of racing. boy that rain made it a muddy mess though. stands all wet and muddy. the steps were hazardous BAD. and then everyone walkin over it by the concessions and in the stands made it tacky. tried pullin your shoes when you walked. that all sucked. but man non wing sprints at creek......................theres not an outdoor race in the state that will come close to what we saw tonight. it was even way better than sfs and that was a good show. the non wings just put on a much better show than any of our winged sprints, be it ascs, supers, or champs. i definitely gotta get up there for the wings on wings off ocrs deal.

thank you creek county - for puttin in max effort to get that race in. and thanks to all the promoters - and especially the drivers. y barksdale and with what koby barksdale did the last 2 nights in an ascs 360 motor ------- we may lose him to indiana scene lol. that dude was good. bacon put ona clinic both nights. not much else to say beyond that --------- except that the rest of the year will be fun to see -------- but i'm about 90% sure I just saw the best race in oklahoma in 2008 tonight at creek county speedway.....

the winged sprints tomorrow at sfs will amost be disappointing after the racing saw the last 2 nights - especially tonight. and i come to the conclusion - i'm way more a fan of non wing sprints than winged sprints. not by a little as i thought before --------- but by a WHOLE LOT. i think next year I NEED to see an indiana speedweek!

One of the best races I have seen in years. The battle for the lead and watching Clayton come from the back to 4th was worth it all. How many times did Bacon and Ballou swap the lead in the last 15 laps? I had one eye on the leaders and one eye on Clayton !!! If you did not attend you missed a classic.

All I can do is agree. That was an awesome night of racing. And absolutely correct on Clayton -- wow! I love winged sprint racing, but it can't hold a candle to what we saw on Thursday night. Here's to hoping that what we saw on Wednesday and Thursday night will encourage more wingless racing in Oklahoma. Surely the crowds that packed the stands sent some sort of message.

Gotta admit, the midget race looked like the B feature at a novice stocker festival, but it did end up with about 8 decent laps of good racing as Joe Boyles worked his way to the front. The biggest problem with the restarts was the track officials all left after the sprint car event, and there was no one in the infield to tell those turkeys where to line up. Not sure why that happened, and it doesn't excuse a lot of poor driving by some people who know better, but it sure didn't help a bad situation.

Thanks to the long drive back to Norman, I, like the officials, left after the sprint race. Sounds like I made a good decision. Too bad that happened -- I was thinking that midget race had a chance to be pretty good.

Another thought on Darron Clayton, he was scary fast. I have never had seen a car that sideways, then diamond the corner, lift both front tires IN THE CORNER, wheelie down the straight, and do the same thing in 3&4. He was not passing your Friday night Joe's, he was passing Darland, Shuman, Hockett etc. We were taking bets when he was going to crash.
