For Immediate Release

August 11, 2008

Two Nights of Racing at Chico's Silver Dollar Speedway

The Feather Falls Casino Friday night series continues this weekend with four divisions racing at the quarter-mile clay oval. Then on Saturday night, August 16, John Padjen Motorsports has added a special night of racing. For the first time in nine years the Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series will compete at Silver Dollar Speedway. These machines are the equivalent to NASCAR on dirt, producing 850 hp and broad sliding on the famous Silver Dollar racing surface. Also on that night the Street Stocks will make an added appearance to their 2008 schedule. Angie's Poker Club is adding bonus money to the main event winner of the Street Stocks.

Jessee Heating and Air along with Four Seasons Roofing in the main sponsor if events for Friday night, August 15. Local driver and former sprint car track champion Johnny Gray is the driver of the #71 Jessee Heating and Air Four Seasons Roofing Maxim chassis with Don Ott power. Gray and his father have always been a big supporter of the speedway. β€œI think this is the fifth year in a row we have put up bonus money for the sprint cars,” said Gray. β€œIt's a good way to promote our company through the race track and it also helps my sponsors who support me as a driver.”

Joining the powerful 410-sprints on Friday night is the Joe Hunt Magnetos wingless sprints, Street Stocks, and dirt modifieds. Racing will start at 7 pm. Front grandstand gate will open at 6pm. Adult general admission is $11.00, juniors and seniors $9.00 and children $5.00

The Western Allstars DIRTcar Late Model Series features over 25 drivers who race at 10 different tracks along the 2008 season. Local standout Richard Papenhausen will set his sites on point leader Bobby Hogge IV and the rest of the Western Allstars in hopes of repeating his main event win on May 31 at American Valley Speedway in Quincy. Papenhausen is a local icon at the speedway and is the defending champion of the dirt modifies at Chico. August 16 will be the first time in nine years the series has raced in Chico. This year the best of the best are traveling with the Late Model Series. It's a one night only chance for the local racing fans in Chico to witness these drivers compete at high speeds, side-by-side on the high banks of Chico. The 410-sprint car point battle is the hottest the thing going this Friday night. Andy Forsberg held a 26-point lead just five races ago. Now, Sean Becker has closed the gap to just four points. It would be unheard of is Becker can come from that far back, that late in the season to over take Forsberg. Will Forsberg continue to struggle while Becker gains more points on him? The only way to find out is this Friday night. Only two more 410-sprint car weekly shows left in the season.

The Street Stocks have a two night show this weekend. Their point battle has been the best all season. Three drivers are at the top led by Scott Rogers of Redding. He leads Jeff Olschowka by just two points. Chico's Heather Bartlett is just ten points back. These two nights of racing will have a dramatic affect on the out come of this year's champion driver. Plus, Angie's Poker Club is adding bonus money to the division on Saturday night.

Wingless sprints continue to be the most constant group of drivers this year. The Joe Hunt Magnetos wingless drivers are set to crown a champion on September 3, Wednesday night of the opening ceremonies for the Gold Cup Race of Champions. Keith Bloom Jr. continues to lead the way. Orland's Taylor Simas has cut the lead to 49-points after last Saturday's win at Placerville Speedway. That gave the kid with the curly hair his third win of the season. Brown's Valley double trouble of Mason and Cody Myers continues to hold down the third and fourth spot in the points. Both are due for a win before the season closes. Jimmy Pettit, the Love Shack, is still sitting in the fifth spot. Pettit's career year continues with four wins.

The traveling Dwarf Cars make their fourth and final appearance of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway. The highly competitive and super fast race cars always put on a great show for the fans. Car counts have been great this year with the racing even better. Patrick Weger has won two of this year's main events at Chico. The only man to defeat him is Mike Grenert. Those two are the favorites coming into this Friday's racing action.
