What is up with the illegal running at Brill's?

I am a faithful race fan every Saturday night. Got just a few questions would

really like straightened up though. I have been hearing that there is a Sprint

car number 91 Cody Metscher to be exact is running

electronics on his car. Now I thought that was illegal.

But my opinion if it helps him and lets him know how fast to go in

certain places and all that good stuff then why can't all the cars have them?!

Whats good for one sprint car is good for another sprint car, right?

I guess it's who ya know right?! Well that's what it seems like anyways.

Well Mr bust or speed. Since you are such a huge race fan do you talk to any of the actual drivers. And if you do then they are not telling you the whole story. The system that the 91 uses on his car is LEGAL at BMS. Mark has gone over and over it. There are no if ands or buts. ITS NOT IN WHO YOU KNOW. Cody is completely LEGAL in all aspects of the rules at BMS. He got tore down last night in front of 20 or so drivers and Mark let all of them take turns and ask all the questions they want about anything on the car. So please if anyone has anymore beef with that kid please talk to Mark and get your facts straight. Thank you.

Dont get mad at me, im just the pushtruck guy.

the system cody uses is a mychron i believe. it is just a little computer that is a bunch of guages all in one. it tells you things such as rpms, water temp, oil pressure/temp, exhaust temp, fuel pressure, and speed. they are available for anyone to purchase. tom harris out of tulsa is a dealer. almost all mini sprints these days have them and at least one two barrel that is at okc every night has one. if they made them illegal i guess you would have to make the electronic tachs everyone uses illegal too????? come on now! you guys act like that thing gives you a hp or handling advantage, it doesn't. all it does is let you know what your car did the last time you were on the track so you can make adjustments for the next time out. like i said they are available to anyone and everyone who wants to buy one. i believe they run between $1000 and $2000.

Thank you to David. And thank you Matt. That issue needed to be set straight.

The type of electrical device that would be illegal would be any sort of traction device, any sort of device for the pits to communicate info to the driver, any device that allows the driver to control any braking or suspension device or anything else on the car.

What is in use on the 91 car is commonly used on many drag cars ( I know this is not drag racing). It RECORDS things like engine temps, rpms, and yes speed in any given spot on the track. And yes this info COULD and SHOULD be used by the driver to improve his performance. It has NOTHING to do with the performance of the car, which is what the rules deal with. Basically its not much different than having a fan video tape your race and watching it to see where you screwed up. A little more high tech is all.

Nothing against #91. The computer in my car and in my truck are exactly the same. But the push of the right code the hp goes up or down. Thanks for all the information and good luck to all.

The only reason that works in your truck is because your truck has electronically ran fuel injection. this is a two barrel sprintcar, all it can do is monitor what is going on. its not something he can press a button on and presto extra hp! just a fancy guage.
