After looking at Manzy's entry form for the Copper Classic, some interesting things popped out to my attention.

Of course, everyone has noticed the $75 entry fee for CRA, $125 if it is late.

Although it is a 2 day race, but in reality, a driver only gets to run 1 heat race (and if lucky) 1 main. Qualifying has been elimatinated so the heat races could be really exciting (or boring in some cases doubtful). (this is assuming he/she is just running one division)

This could be great for the fans, seeing pea picks in heat races for Dirt Champ, Midgets, and Sprint Cars, but I got to wander if the car owners will think it is so great, especially travelling to AZ.

Also, another oddity for this race, when I first saw the schedule for the CRA season, ALL RACES were 30 laps, including the Ovals Nationals, Holidays races, etc. And to my surprise, on Manzy's entry form, it says the CRA Sprint Car Main Event is 40 Laps. Who is running the race CRA or Manzy?

The winner's purse in each class looks healthy so the race should attract all the major top stars, and their should be plenty of racing each night, so the fans should be satisfied with different types of open wheel cars. I wonder if any of the CRA guys will be able to find rides in all three divisions?

If I lived closer I sure would love to see the diverse action all in one night on dirt, it sure would be cool if they could crown a champion for the night or offer a bonus for someone winning all 3 classes! My pick would be the Dave the rave Darland!!!!!

USAC is definately in charge. After all, it's their show. Just like if the Outlaws were running, it would be their show. Of course, they do work with the promoter.

I thought the schedule showing all 30 lap races was interesting also. Maybe this is a break for the car owners? Meaning, they race for the same cash on 'special' higher paying nights, but they will put less laps on their equipment. If so, it's a bummer for the fans because longer races (extra laps) now and then was always done for the race fan in mind.

"The Friday night race will have all three divisions running qualifying races and the Saturday night finale has the Silver Crown cars going 50 laps, the sprints are scheduled for 40 laps and the midget main is 30 laps. The semi mains for all three divisions are 12 laps". http://www.manzanitaspeedway.us/html/feb9-10.asp

May 26th, September 1st and the A main at the Oval Nationals will be 40 lappers. July 4th may be as well.

Glad to hear there will be some 40 lappers this year!!!!!!!!!!

(July 4, Sure hope that can be a 40 lapper too)

Any chance Ventura, Tulare, or Hanford might have 40 (or even 50 lappers) since these tracks are just 1/5 to 1/3 miles? .

Kings Speedway is actually a 3/8 mile track. Its not that much smaller than Perris. That being said, the more 40 lappers the better.
