Was wondering if anyone knew where Tim was headed after Knoxville? Is he following the Outlaws back home or bouncing around the midwest?

He mentioned they were going to run the first couple nights of the TNT Sprint Bandit Series and then go from there. When talking to him last Saturday he didn't sound like anything was 100% firmly set after Knoxville other than that. Be cool if he could run the whole TNT Banidt deal to show them wingless boys how to get it done.

The All Star press release said TK was running the Thunder through the plains shows ... but he was not at Bellville tongiht.  There are three races to go so maybe we will see him yet.

GT, TK should be very careful when and if he runs against the traditional sprinters.

I am sure he will be as careful as he was last year when he took the wing off for the 1st time and was champion of that series....

Just like when he was going to win the Oval Nationals against the traditional sprinters that were the best in the country only to have a 5 dollar part cost him the win! And don't tell me otherwise, because you'd only be fooling yourself if you thought that.

Trophy Cup......Best race of the year hands down!

I don't understand that statement either?? Tim has done VERY well running the traditional sprints!

Don't take my comment wrong in anyway. TK is a great racer and one of the few wingers that will take the barn door off and run with USAC and the traditional sprinters. My thoughts were directed to GT and his statement. All in fun. I simply meant that the competition will be extremely tough for TK. Certainly nothing was meant to take anything away from him - as I consider him to be one of the very best with a wing or without. Running without a wing is the traditional and historical way sprint car racing began. Hope he decides to run with the 410s @ Calistoga.

It's all in good fun no doubt. I just like how many of the "traditional" fans have always poked fun at the winged guys, yet when our Nor Cal boys take the wings off they often times perform very well, case in point "Hollywood" Danny Faria Jr. who hasn't won with a wing in a few years, but has won a couple races with the Bandits already this season.

Winged or wingless, it's all good to me. Smile (as long as it's on dirt that is) hehe

The most that I know about TK's schedule is that he is running at Knoxville this Saturday and then at Osky both Monday and Tuesday and onto the nationals. On Monday and Tuesday after the Nationals he is running the first 2 TNT races in Neb. As for running topless, last year Tim's worst finish with the TNT tour was maybe 5th and he tied for the points with Bellou(sp). I can't wait as I leave on Wed. for K'ville and am staying for the 2 TNT races..............WhooHoo

Again my point is that when and if TK runs with the traditional sprint cars the field is much more competitive than a regular GSC show. The Oval Nationals attract the best sprint car drivers in the country as does Manzanita's show. There is a big difference in competition is my point. Good luck to all of the Kaedings as they are racers for sure. Wonder why Tyler Walker does not run without the wing? From what I understand he has no plans to run down south at the year end $$$ races. And he lives in Los Angeles.

TNT last year TK tied another ex-wing/ ex-Cali driver Robert Ballou for points championship.

Not to mention, Damian Gardner is also a former winged guy from Nor Cal wink

With all due respect Mr. Thomas, the Bandits do not have near the caliber of teams, or racers that the USAC National or USAC/CRA sprints have, so your comments regarding "Hollywood" Danny Faria should be taken with a grain of salt. I'm not saying that his win in last week's Grand Slam event at Santa Maria wasn't huge, for, indeed it was, I am just saying that he is hard pressed to do that against the USAC/CRA guys. TK, on the other hand, is quite capable of beating anyone in this country when it comes to winged or non-winged action. I'm with Mr. Tripcrwn in the sense that I hope TK, and others, take the "Barn Door" off for the big Calistoga event coming up at the end of the month.

I completely understand what you're saying, but the few times I've seen Danny run in his own car against USAC/CRA he has been pretty quick too.

I just hope some of our Nor Cal guys have the chance to get a couple non wing races in prior to Calistoga. If they don't it might be tough for them to come out "cold turkey" and take home the dough. But I certainly think if they get some lap time prior without a wing, the So Cal guys will have a tough time keeping our boys at bay. Smile

Again all in good fun so please don't take it the wrong way my friends from So Cal. lol. Less than a month to go. Looking forward to it.

Indeed it is Mr. Thomas, this Calistoga deal is going to be one to remember that's for sure. I can't wait.

I wonder if Jayme Barnes will show up for the USAC show at Calistoga. Last time the CRA cars ventured north of Fresno (Skagit) he took their money and trophies.

Oh my Trip, what you said about the Oval Nationals there is a funny statement when talking about the competition level with the GSC. And the defending champion of this race, who also has the most Oval Nationals wins happens to be the guy who ran 3rd in the GSC points this year.

Trip, lets see one, just one, of those non wing guys put a wing on and try and steal a big money winged race against our GSC guys. It will not happen. But if the non wing guys want to run a big money race, the winged guys can take the wing off and steal the money.

What you say may be true, but my point is simply this - a normal field of GSC wingers, or for that matter a regular field of CRA at the PAS, does not or will not compare to the field of drivers and the quality of equipment at the Oval Nationals. No way no how.

As for the traditional sprint car owners and drivers putting a "wing on" their cars, I can only point to some of the examples already mentioned in this thread. Gardner switched to CRA and now runs with the USAC National series - non wing. Ballou is another example. Even Bud Kaeding I think would prefer running without the wing and is a former Silver Crown champion. And finally the car owners and drivers prefer racing traditional sprint cars without the "barn door" because it is the true and historical way to race. Why would they ever want to put a wing on a traditional sprint car.

And finally there are only a few GSC drivers that compete in non-wing events. The Kaedings of course come to mind. Golobic, Suggs and both are youngsters who may have ambitions with NASCAR and know the only way is through the USAC National series, not the Outlaws. Just my opinion - feel free to comment.

BTW GT, your mention of Danny Faria's record in recent years is not really accurate or fair. He is very hard pressed to go racing due to work at his dairy farm. So he competes when he can and should never be counted as a regular with USAC/CRA. GSC, or the Bandits. Unfortunately for his fans work comes first. He is a racer and must always be considered a threat wherever he chooses to run.
