For Immediate Release: King Me! Sammy Swindell Set to Compete Also

(Chico, CA 7-21-08)...The King of California Golden State 410-sprint car series comes to a close this Friday and Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway. The 22-race schedule ends in dramatic fashion with high car counts expected and extra prizes for drivers and fans. On Saturday night, July 26, a new champion will be crowed the King of California on the front straight. The driver to beat is Chico's own Jonathan Allard. Allard won the championship in 2006. If Allard holds on to his lead he will become the series third multi-time champion since the series was conceived in 1987. The other two drivers to win multiple championships are Brent Kaeding and Steve Kent. Trying to close in on Allard will be Los Angeles driver Tyler Walker. Walker trails Allard by 31-points with two nights to go. Adding to the intrigue will be former two-time World of Outlaw driver Sammy Swindell. Swindell will pilot the Chico based Tom Rolfe Trucking #10. Other top entrants will be Brent, Bud and Tim Kaeding of San Jose, Mike Henry of Sacramento and Evan Suggs of Scott's Valley. Local drivers in the mix will be Princeton's Mason Moore, Chico's Brett Miller and Stephen Allard.

On Friday night Specialized Parts Planet will be on board as a sponsor. With their help the Friday night King of California main event will pay $4,000 to win. Doug Axt is a parts specialist and can be reached on their website at www.specializedpartsplanet.com. They are located in Rancho Cordova. Adding to the night is ManCamp Motorsports. The fan based group is supplying trophies for the heat race winners and dash winner. The winners will stop on the front stretch and then give the trophy into the grandstand to one boy fan and one girl fan. The winners will also receive two sleeves of tear-offs. The trophy's are supplied by Twin Cities Trophy's.

For the second year in a row Cherry St. Mini Storage is sponsoring the weekend. Mike and Carol are adding an extra $1,000 bonus to one driver who earns the most points for the overall weekend.

Saturday nights race will be a tribute to Gary Patterson. This race was annually held at Calistoga Speedway, however, the series did not race at Calistoga this year and the event has been moved to Chico. The best website to find out more about Gary Patterson is www.garypattersonracing.com. A limited amount of t-shirts will be available for purchase during this weekends racing.

Adult admission is $16.00 for both nights. Juniors are $11.00 while children are $5.00. Racing is set to take place at 7 pm each night. Front grandstand is slated to open at 5:30 pm. The wingless sprints will compete on Friday night, July 25. On the following night the dirt modifieds are slated to race with the 410-sprints.
