Anyone know if any non-regular IRA 410's will be in Deer Creek Saturday?? I'd be surprised I guess. What about Scott Winters??

Knoxville has a bigger chance of rain than Deer Creek so you never know. If they rain out a few might come up and run with the IRA. Nobody is doing much extra traveling these days with the fuel prices and money so tight.

I would bet that you will not see any extra drivers from SW Minnesota. Geldner and Winters plus others will go to there regular Saturday night shows. If K-ville rained out like Stan mentioned I hardly dought any of these guys would make the trip up, it's a proven fact that the k-ville drivers do-not leave the porch.

Brian Birkhofer wrote an interesting article about the cost of fuel and how it's affecting his travel in the latest issue of Dirt Late Model.

I don't know if there is a rain date. I'm watching the radar and trying to decide what to do. There's some rain going through St. Cloud on a line that will take it around Hinckley and points north. There are some showers over by the SD border heading east along I90 that would have a chance of hitting Deer Creek later today. They're showing 70% for Racine, the nearest town to DCS, and the New Richmond forecast is calling for 50%. It's overcast and has drizzled on and off in the Forest Lake area since this morning.
I'll probably have to flip a coin here pretty soon and make a decision.
So far Alex is canceled and I presume that Hibbing will be as well. I'm not sure about Jackson or Arlington. Knoxville is only 20% for tonight. This weekend appears like it might not be a total wash out, some tracks will probably be able to get their shows in. It's the challenge of guessing which tracks will be able to get all or most of their shows in tonight that gets tricky.

Just checked again. New Richmond has been down graded to 40% for tonight, Racine is down to 60%. If I play the odds it appears that it would be best to stay close to home and conserve some of the racing budget for next week.

But then again you never know, I might decide that I want to try and bet against the odds and head south. We're still keeping an eye on the radar as we tend to other tasks.

I decided to wait and make a final decision by 3pm. It's 2:35pm right now and as I type the National Weather Service site shows some nasty looking yellow and red bands of precip kicking up out by Sioux Falls and heading east along I90. There is also rain going across the eastern part of the state not too far north of me, probably around Princeton, North Branch and on into Wisconsin. That hints at a Rice Lake rainout but a possible night of racing at CLS.
Jackson posted that they were still on around 12:10 but the storms are approaching Worthington and there's more reds so they appear to be gaining strength. With the humidity and a frontal system moving back to the north I suspect they could kick up anywhere so the closer option looks to be the best. I can relax for a few more minutes before I head out to the track because it doesn't take as long to get to CLS.
Good luck to everyone tonight wherever or whatever you end up doing. If I made the wrong choice everyone can "say I told you so" tomorrow. You know it's painful for me anytime I have to opt against the Sprints but once I get out to CLS and get my first sniff of methanol I'll be alright. It should be interesting to see if Hipsag and Keeney are back out there tonight. Paul's car didn't look so good and Jeff told GRP that he sustained some frame damage.
Good luck to JR if they get the show in down at DCS. Have a safe night of racing down there.

An update. After having to spend some basement time and experiencing an hour and a half power outage I'm back online. Cedar Lake is cancelled but I'm curious about what's happening down at Deer Creek. The radar doesn't look good for southeast Minnesota. It hasn't reached there yet but it appears to be in the vicinity of I35 so it will arrive soon. Let us know what happens.

Stan, it don't take a weather man to see that Deer Creek will be rained out tonight. I bet it will be raining there with 90 minutes. I'm staying home, I got to see race in Britt Iowa last night so I got my fix for the weekend.

The weather is good now, but mr. chuck is right... the radar doesn't look promising. The storm is at Albert Lea now and will be in this area in a couple hours unless it breaks up or changes direction. That might happen as the low level winds around the track are to the north. Could move the storm or break it up...

I hope they can get the show in but it's too late for me, I already laid my cards on the table.
