Three Night ASCS Regional Rumble Through the Plains This Weekend

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (July 15, 2008) – The states of South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska will provide the backdrop for three consecutive nights of critical American Sprint Car Series Regional racing action this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

It all gets under way on Thursday night when the ASCS Northern Plains Region invades Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, SD.

After that, the ASCS Northern Plains Region takes on the ASCS Midwest Region for two consecutive nights of action, beginning with Crawford County Speedway in Denison, IA, on Friday night and then Nebraska's Eagle Raceway on Saturday night.

All three nights will award ASCS Northern Plains points. ASCS Midwest Region points will be awarded as well at Crawford County Speedway and Eagle Raceway.

Missouri's Brian Brown is out to a 14-point lead over Nebraska teen Jack Dover with four ASCS Midwest Region events in the books. Defending series champion Natalie Sather of Fargo, ND, and 2005 Midwest champ Billy Alley are tied for third, 44 points off the lead pace, with Crete, Nebraska's Mike Boston rounding out the current top five.

After another North Central Speedway win in Brainerd, MN, North Dakota's Lee Grosz is off to a strong defense of his 2007 ASCS Northern Plains Region championship. Grosz enters this weekend's triple with just a 12-point advantage over Sioux Falls' Eric Lutz.

The Thursday card at Park Jefferson and Friday's event at Crawford County both go green at 7:30 p.m., with Saturday's Eagle action firing off at 7:00 p.m.

The high-banked, ½-mile Park Jefferson Speedway dirt oval is located in Jefferson, SD, off I-29 Exit 4, then 0.2 miles east to SR 105, then 1.8 miles north. For more information, contact the track at 605-966-5517 or 712-274-6324.

The semi-banked, 5/8-mile Crawford County Speedway dirt oval is located in Denison, IA, 0.6 miles north of US 30 on US 59, then 0.6 miles northeast on SR 39. For more information, contact the track at 712-263-2033, 712-263-4637 or 712-677-9912.

The high-banked, 1/3-mile Eagle Raceway clay oval is located near Lincoln, NE, off I-80 Exit 420, then eleven miles south on SR 63, then west. For more information, contact the track at 402-781-2243 or 402-238-2595.

The ASCS Midwest Region is currently slated for nine nights of action at eight different tracks throughout Nebraska and the immediate surrounding area stretching into Kansas, Missouri and Iowa.

The ASCS Northern Plains Region is set for 11 nights of racing action at eight different tracks throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa in 2008.

The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
