410s (19 Cars)
Welcome Mat Bronson Maeschen, Todd Wanless, John Miller, Wade Nygaard in the 4
MIA Matt Wasmund, Lynton Jeffrey, Brooke Tatnell, Billy Alley
VIP Propped back up in the usual turn 4 area. BT24 and the elders joining the party for the night's festivities.
Time Trials (1 laps each) Mark Dobmeier (6th out) set quick time for the 2nd straight week and 2nd overall for the year with a 10.977 lap at 122.980 MPH on a track lacking moisture again. Justin Henderson was 2nd quick with a 11.077 lap. The rest of the top 16 hitting the invert for the heats: Gregg Bakker, Todd Wanless, Johnn Cressman, Jake Peters, Bronson Maeschen, John Lambertz, Chad Meyer, Scott Winters, Gary DeWall, Wade Nygaard, Mitch Runge, Marlon Jones, John Miller, and Dusty Ballenger.
Time Trials Grade: C+; it helped to go out early as the cushion in 3 and 4 was rising throughout and was actually getting slick towards the very end. Track was praying for more water, but it would never come.

Heat 1 Notes: Runge took off with the early lead as Meyer hit the turn 2 wall on the start and lost a few positions. It took Dobmeier awhile to get going and finally got into the invert spot of 5th when Runge dropped out with the lead with 3 to go. A blanket could be thrown over positions 2 through 6 at the checkers in a very entertaining heat as Maeschen won his 2nd heat of the year.

Heat 2 Finish: 2D 23w 4 57x D1/ 12L 2 9M 33
Heat 2 Notes: Winters volted into 2nd on the first lap and followed Ballenger the rest of the way as the track was really beginning to slick off. Everyone was on the top midway through the race with not much on the bottom. Henderson passed Lambertz with 4 to go to hit the invert spot. The heat win was "The Combine's" 2nd of the year.
Heat Grades: A-; the track was damn good for the first heat as that was probably the best heat so far this year. The 2nd heat lacked the entertainment but couldn't take too much away from the one before.
B Feature (Top 2 Tag the A, 10 Laps) Starting Order: No B Feature as all cars made the A.
B Feature Grade: N/A.

Initial start was a dandy with Winters taking the point on a track that promised rubber very early on in the feature. Henderson would get up to 2nd after five laps and that's when the the rubber finally set in for everyone with huggy-pole conditions. Winters kept his cool and put a couple lapped cars between him and 2nd and looked like he was off to his 1st victory of the year until a caution with 7 to go when Nygaard blew a right rear. Maeschen, running 5th, had steering problems and would retire after making a few repairs in the work area.
The restart saw Winters leading Henderson, Peters, and Dobmeier for those last 7 laps. Winters would hold on and save just enough tire to get the $2,500 victory to the elation of the VIP on a crappy-ass track. Dobmeier would get by Peters somehow with a pass on the high side to get the 3rd position behind Henderson in 2nd. Peters was 4th and Cressman rounded out the top 5. Winters would lead all 25 laps and it was his 2nd career 410 victory at Huset's, with the first coming just over a year ago on July 4th for a $5,000 payday then.
Finish: 23w D1 13 57x 56 16 2D 1w 2 28/ 12L 24M 9M 101 4 33 96 11x 6
A Feature Grade: F; for the track conditions and an A+ for the VIP favorite to get the monkey off his back at Huset's. A pretty good week for the 23w as they swept it with a win the night before at Jackson in the 360.
360s (17 Cars, 18 Laps) Brent Vonk took off from his front row starting spot to get the lead with Brock Dump and Rosenboom in tow. A red flag with 7 to go joined the field back together with that running order. Rosenboom would find some rubber on the middle part of the track to get passed Dump with 5 to go and a lap later to get by Vonk to take the lead over in turns 1 and 2. He would hold on, even though a late red flag brought the field back together, as Casey Abbas moved up to grab 2nd, Vonk held on to 3rd, Dump 4th, and Cody Hansen 5th. Vonk led laps 1-14 and Rosenboom 15-19 with the extra lap at the end from the red flag on the last lap.
360 Finish: 27 17v 21v 12 4 5w 17B 42 76 35/ 24 3J 21 11 9K 11K 47
FOAW: Winters gets the nod after a short hiatus from his once weekly spot. Great to see them get that first victory and boy, we can't wait for the upcoming weeks for quite a few reasons!
Crowd Pleasing Moment #1: Getting to talk to victors after the races about the plans for the upcoming weeks. The giddiness can't be hidden by both sides of the fence on this! Congrats to the entire 23w on the much overdue win!
Crowd Pleasing Moment #2: Watching the 27 crew have to go out back to switch engines after the heat even though they continue to say how "low buck" they actually are. And everybody will believe that when pigs fly. Costly victory for them to say the least.
WTF: "Joe Camel" bird-lipping his cigarettes all night long. Nothing even remotely close to the "total inhalation" of a couple weeks ago. Bring you're A game next week dammit.
"Home of the Professionals" Moment of the Night: There is a thing called a water truck that actually holds water and you put that water on the track sometime throughout the week in order to give the paying fans something other than rubber-downed tracks. Especially with turns 3 and 4 since they get more sunshine than the other turns due to the shadow of suites. Getting old in a hurry.
Mulligan Moment: To the crew member of the 9K after their driver flipped. Absolutely leveled Trisha Underberg sending her tumbling down the embankment. Dumb move by him but quite funny to see though, great entertainment.
Head Scratcher: This is probably getting redundant, but put some more water down on the track in the days preceding Sunday. Water it to death this week, we will gladly take a 1.5 lane track over rubber-downed racing anyday.
Thumbs Up: Big J Report getting TWO separate nods over the PA system tonight in order to make up for last week's omission to the crowd. Keep up the great work, its always great to hear the Report being mentioned infront of the thousands.
Thumbs Down: Another sub-20 car count with most of the heavy hitters gone again. The dog days of summer are kicking in for most.
Prime Mover: Wanless came from 14th to 9th, while Runge came from last in 19th for a top 10 in 10th. Meyer also impressive from 13th to 8th.
Trophy Queen Grade: 3 trophy queens is always better than 2 and two of them looked VERY damn good from way up top. A+ ladies, bravo job Borrowed Bucks.
Closing Stat of the Night: 24 more days until the best 4 days of the summer (Knoxville Nationals) finally kick off!
