I saw on the Knoxville website that RJ Johnson's motor didn't pass tech. Anyone hear what the issue was?
Seems like Mather and the Burnhams got screwed out of victory lane and a chance to thank their sponsors in front of the media and crowd.

It sure seems as though several competitors have been DQ'ed ever since Knoxville and the ASCS came up with their intake runner measuring device. Can someone shed some light on exactly what this tool measures or how it works? I'm thinking this tool should be available for purchase by the teams, so they can easily check their intake runners prior to towing several hundred miles and being embarrassed by their engine builders work. Otherwise they have no way of checking their engine builders/machinists work. Some guys may request illegal heads, but it seems to me that a majority of the guys being DQ'ed are not known "cheaters," and they're being embarrassed by their engine builder.

If I were him, I would be having a little chat with Mr. Vermeer and Mr. Nelson That is where he had just purchased the motor and was told that it was ASCS legal and it had passed tech at knoxville last year.

Had that motor been one of Brian Brown's or Billy Alley's?

No it wasn't one of Billy Alleys. Billy has only owned two ASCS engines in his life, the one Brian Brown is currently using (which was new in 2003) and the new one we built him at the beginning of this year

Maybe it was one of those "Big Rooster" (or whatever they call them) power plants I keep hearing about.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks

Our Ostrich that Brian Brown runs is definitely not illegal and has been checked by Knoxville and by ASCS several times. I hate it for Lee to get a bad name because he is an awesome person and great motor builder and has the reputation for not cheating. Maybe they can figure this deal out.

He bought it from Vermeer. Hence the reason I thought it was probable that Alley ran it not that he owned it.
