Reinbold Reels in Hank Arnold Memorial for First ASCS Canyon Triumph!
Lonnie Wheatley, PHOENIX, Ariz. (June 14, 2008) – Andrew Reinbold broke into Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region victory lane for the first time by topping Saturday night's 30-lap Hank Arnold Memorial feature event atop Manzanita Speedway's ½-mile clay oval.
With the triumph aboard the AEC-powered AME Electrical Contracting/Ross Equipment & Rentals No. 19 Buckley-chassis, Reinbold became the series' fifth different winner of the season through eleven events.
As the ASCS Canyon Region took to Manzanita's half-mile for the second time in 2008, it was much like the first time out much of the way with Jeremy Sherman and Charles Davis, Jr., dicing for the lead.
But when Sherman ran short of fuel less than a handful of laps from the checkered flag, the deck was shuffled. And after a wild final-lap melee that left several cars upside down, it was Reinbold flashing underneath the checkered flag for his initial ASCS Canyon Region triumph.
Reinbold took the checkered flag in front of Mike Martin, with Josh Pelkey, R.J. Johnson and Bryan Swinehart rounding out the top five.
Martin won the Trophy Dash, with Johnson, Davis and Sherman victorious in heat race action.
