After Sedalia Win, Brian Brown Partners with Pella Corporation!
(Bill W) June 13, 2008 – Brian Brown is fresh off of a victory over some stout 360 sprint car competition including Jason Johnson and Kasey Kahne in Sedalia, Missouri on Wednesday. He also raced and finished ninth with the World of Outlaws making it a very solid night of racing at the State Fair Speedway. Now he will be partnering with Pella Corporation this Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway as he seeks his first 2008 win at the historic facility in the Tim and Gina Doogs SuperClean #21 sprint car.
The defending Knoxville Raceway track champion is proud to be involved with Pella Corp. "It's awesome to be involved with a corporation like Pella Corp," he says. "It's Pella Corp night at the races, and you want to win every single night at Knoxville, but it would be extra special if you could do it on the night they sponsor. They'll have around 1000 employees there, and I'm really excited to be a part of their organization this weekend. Hopefully, we'll do a good job for them, and it's a relationship we can continue in the future."
Wednesday night was special in Sedalia. "It was a fun night all around," says Brian. "It's an honor to drive that #33 car in the first place. It's the Michael Ross Memorial Foundation (MRMF) car for one, and to be able to go and win that race is very special. Another thing that's always great is driving for my grandpa (George Lasoski)…I don't get to do that very often."
The MRMF benefits the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, Michigan. The camp is for handicapped children only, many with special care needs. "I don't have a whole lot of money myself to donate to the foundation, but I did donate my half of the winnings on Wednesday," says Brian. "I thought it was the least I could do. I've always been a big supporter of the foundation and I believe in what they do at the camp in Michigan."
A bit lost in the shuffle was a great 360 win against two of the better drivers in the business. Brian battled with Jason Johnson and Sprint Cup star Kasey Kahne all race long before pulling away for a special win. "The race was a good one," says the Grain Valley, Missouri driver. "We were fortunate to start on the pole, but after a restart on lap three, Jason Johnson was able to slide by me. We were able to get back by him, but on another restart, Kasey got in the action and got by me. We raced by each other three or four laps, and put on a good show for the fans. He proved why he races on Sunday, he's a heck of a driver in anything anytime."
The SuperClean #21 car was looking good as well, as Brian pulled down the 11th quick time of the night, good for a pole starting position in the heat. "I felt we had a car to compete with the World of Outlaws at Sedalia," he says. "We took off there in the heat from the pole and they said I jumped. I guess I would say I don't agree with their call. Normally, going to the second row wouldn't be a big deal, but with the Outlaws, the top two finishers go to the dash, and I felt we had a good enough car to do that. So instead of being in the first three rows of the dash, we were in the sixth row of the feature."
Despite the bad break, Brian rebounded in the feature event and drove from 11th to 9th. "Anytime you can run top ten with the Outlaws as a non-regular, it's a huge accomplishment," he says. "I feel out of the four races we ran with them in the last week that we competed well and are heading in the right direction. Those guys take it to another level and are on their game for 25 laps every night."
A super-busy week is planned for Brian. He'll compete tonight at the US36 Speedway near Cameron, Missouri in the Bud Shootout, Saturday at Knoxville, Sunday at the high banks in Belleville, Kansas with the NCRA, Tuesday in the Ollie's 360 Challenge in Sharon, Ohio and maybe even Wednesday at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa!
