Hello Race Fans,

Recently we have received a number of emails complaining about some of the behavior and foul language used on this Message Board by both “new” and “old” members.

While I have personally disagreed with a number of posts over the years, I believe in the freedom of speech and the right to express an opinion. In the past, this has gotten me and the SCRAFAN.COM website in trouble with some race officials, promoters, racers, and sponsors. I have also been threatened with lawsuits due to the posts/antics of some users who choose to hide behind a username. Is that fair?

All that I ask of the Message Board users is to watch the language and show respect to others- even if you disagree with them. In the past, some people have gone too far and posts have been removed and certain people have been kicked off the board. I do not enjoy that and would rather look for ways to promote Sprint Car Racing in a positive way.

Some users are changing a few letters in their curse words, but most if not all of the readers know what is being said. That still shows a lack of respect and class to others. It is one thing to hang out and curse among friends. It is quite another to curse on a public Message Board that is read worldwide and available for free to any viewer- both young and old. Remember, Sprint Car Racing is a family oriented sport and needs to attract new fans, sponsors, racers, tracks, and supporters to survive and grow.

All of us that view this board have a great passion for Sprint Car Racing. Controversies will always happen and any 2 people that see the same thing on a racetrack can have differing opinions. One’s favorite driver might be another fan’s villain or vice versa.

The point is that I am asking everyone to PLEASE WATCH THE LANGUAGE – DO NOT USE FOUL/GRAPHIC LANGUAGE. These boards are still a great way to get information from different sources. Rain outs, new rules, new races, changes, schedules, or any other race information can be important.

If nothing is done about the language, then it will only get worse over time. That would not be a positive for Sprint Car Racing.

Thanks,

Lance Jennings
