Cut and pasted from the NCRA press release:

WAKEENEY, Kan. (June 8, 2008) -Veteran Mike Peters of Wichita was victorious in a wild finish at the Wakeeney (KS) Speedway Sunday evening, June 8, as the O'Reilly NCRA 360 Sprint Car Series presented by ICM Ethanol made a special appearance.

Heat three winner J.D. Johnson took advantage of his pole starting position to jump to a quick lead in the 25-lap main event, followed by Peters, heat two winner Luke Cranston, heat one victor Mike Chadd, and C.J. Johnson. J.D. got into lapped traffic on lap 7 and was able to put a few cars between himself and Peters.

The first caution flag waved on lap 14 when Mark Walinder stalled at the end of the front straightaway. Then on the restart, Larry Neighbors got crossed up coming out of turn 4. Most of the field had to scramble, and contact caused Cody Forshee to roll on the front straight. Forshee was not injured but done for the night, as was Neighbors.

After the green flag returned, J.D. Johnson again pulled away, but Peters and C.J. Johnson were able to keep close tabs on the leader. Then as J.D. was attempting to lap a car coming out of turn 4 on lap 22, contact was made, sending the leader spinning down the front straightaway. That put J.D. to the back of the line on the restart, and gave the lead to Peters, followed by C.J. Johnson, Cranston, Chadd, and Derek Drown.

Peters led the field back to the line, but on lap 23, Ryan Kitchen flipped in turn 3, bringing out a red flag. Kitchen was not injured, but during the red flag period, rain started to fall and race officials called the race, giving the win to Peters. C.J. Johnson finished second, trailed by Chadd, Cranston, and Drown.

Don Droud Jr. was victorious in the B-feature.

It was also Steve King Foundation Night at the speedway.

Thank you sprintrock. Now I don't have to go searching for the finish and start on this weekends press release on the upcoming races back at 81 Speedway in Belleville.

David, Didn't mean to step on your toesSmile I just saw that NCRA had it up already and thought I'd pass it along. You do a great job with this site and my family gets on here about 20 times a day to catch up. We appreciate you keeping it so up to date.

NOO you didn't step on my toes one bit. You saved me from looking for the results as all I needed to know for now was the winner.

Appreciate the kind words but I fail miserably keeping this site updated, especially the front page but thanks anyhoot.

And thank you for the support of this website.
