Man ticket prices at this place are always more then other tracks. Who gets that money, where does it go? If the money goes back into the track, its kinda hard to see where it is going. The curtains that used to look good with the wind hitting it and the mud slappin against it, has big holes in them and are all torn now. The best thing they did, was take out that old wooden fence down the back streatch.

At least we have a wing sprint show since GSC and WOO are gone. I don't mind paying $20 vs. $16 at other tracks.

You pay it, yea, but you know you are paying more. You just mentioned that they dont have GSC and WoO this year. So how is the track taking care of us, the fellow race fan. By charging us more, and giving us less. Granted at least we still have the track.

The fairgrounds needs to make a few bucks also otherwise it maybe cheaper to just have nothing. The fairgrounds have to pay those that work the ticket booths, security, lighting, ambulances, equipment operators, water for the track, fuel for the equipment etc, or does Civil War themselves foot all of the bill through there sanction fee?? Just wondering?. Most GSC, CW races cost 15/16 dollars and that's running on tracks alot shorter than stoga.. I agree that they sure have not put anything back into the track in years, but the question is does the fairgrounds get enough of a return from racing to warrant spending money on the speedway. I don't know about C.W. but the crowds the last few years for GSC and even WoO have not been that great, at least during the times i have been there.. Stoga probably will have good racing with the USAC/CRA show since the non wingers will not use up the track as much as the wing cars, also what i have heard is that alot of money has already been raised for that show.. Could be that i have no idea what i'm talking about, just my observation about the situation with stoga but i don't think 20 bucks is out of line.. Just be glad there is racing right now because we don't know what lays ahead for racing, we might be looking at 7or 8 dollar gas sooner than later since it seems the goverment has no idea how to stop the oil futures speculation or the fall of the dollar..

I'm thinking the higher addmission at Stoga may be to cover the cost of having plumbers on stand-by.

That's funny Carwash! I have to add that Ocean Speedway and Quincy Speedway are also $20 for a GSC event. I think all other GSC events are $16-18 dollars for adults. You won't see a lot of passing at Calistoga, but you do get high speed racing and the most beautiful track in the U.S. I am really looking forward to going to my first USAC non wing race for Labor Day weekend.
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

The USAC/CRA show will be the highlight of the year for me. I can't wait to watch the traditional sprint cars take to the 1/2 mile at Calistoga. Memories of Gary Patterson and all of the NARC drivers remain in my memory and Billy Anderson getting airborne in turn one and ending up in a tree will never be forgotten. Can't wait to watch Tony Jones on the fast back stretch. Steve Howard of Socal Performance in Downey and others have raised more than 20K to help the racers in lap and tow money plus other contingencies.

I remember Anthony Simone (non-wing) going into turn 1 in qualifying and hooking a rut or something. He flipped end over end, when out of the park and smacked one of the trees. And he walked away!
I unfortunately have witnessed a couple of fatalities too (non-wing).
