Pa Posse Proud here and will tell you undoubtedly that Fred Rahmer will be regarded as one of the greatest winged drivers ever not only on this soil but in a winged sprintcar period. What happened Weds night though with him "not feeling comfortable in the car" without a wing is a black eye and an emabarrasment to all our local race car drivers. Maybe the old guy has lost his CaHonies, because I sure as hell remember a group called CRA that toured the area and him not having a problem running wingless back then but then again that was 20 years ago. It's a shame and a sad day, if only he would have hung out and saved face a bit, hell he would have been better off to feign a mechanical problem at least for the sake of the rest of the Posse guys that will now be thrown in and bunched with him as being labeled a one trick pony.

Oh well at least we still have Frenchie Grimes!!! Go Frenchie Go.

I wouldn't take it that far, if your not comfortable in the car your wasting your time trying to race it against drivers who do it for a living. I doubt it means he was scared, it may have just meant he was uncompetitive and did not want to risk tearing up equipment or a nasty wreck that could hold him back from the track titles and big money shows that are coming up in PA. It was really a no win for him going in, he was going to be going up against the best wingless drivers in the country and he hasn't driven one in many years, he wasn't going to win. His only real reason to do it is for some fun, and if you can't get the car to your liking and you can't be comfortable, your not going to have fun. If there are concerns about Freddie being scared in a racecar I'm sure he'll dispell them over the weekend.

I agree with LatshPA, besides Fred's motor didn't sound all that good either.

much better to take a car you are not comfortable in and wad it up and hurt someone than it is to park it?

Wow, hard to even know where to begin. The title of thread makes sense because Rahmer fans have a right to be disappointed, but your post takes a serious turn for the worst after that point. LOL No driver should ever get ripped for admitting he was not comfortable in a wingless car. An embarrassment and a black eye for local racing? You have to be kidding.Other than Lucas, none of the other top 410 winged drivers even gave it a try.

How long have you been following PA racing? Rahmer is hardly a one-trick pony. He owned Modified racing in PA in the early to mid-1980s. BTW, those CRA races you referenced were 16 years ago, not 20.

There are only a handful of driver in America that are or were equally skilled in a winged Sprint Car and wingless car: Haud, Hewitt, Danny Smith, Frankie Kerr. The guy you should be talking about is Billy Pauch. The guy gets in a winged 410 for the first time in several years two seasons ago and wins first time out and was again very fast without the wing Tuesday night.

It is a disappointment. I was more disappointed when he tried to kill Lucas Wolfe last year however and I got over that. Maybe more PA guys will turn out wingless next year just to show Rahmer up...lol? Stranger things have happened before. Can't be any worse than the turnout USAC already gets around here. Mother nature even bit them in the ass this year.

How can you be disappointed he didn't race while bashing him at the same time? Another touring series hater I presume?

Stick to the "rules changing" topics Cubic.....

Hey, I'm not happy with Rahmer about rule change either but I still root for him. He fought them taking cockpit adjusters and tire away tooth and nail. Still doesn't mean I don't cheer him on however...the more people boo him, the more I cheer...lol. When the green flag drops, the bullsh!t stops...always has, always will.

No shit huh.....those PA Pussies!

6 point cam-lock restraints; nomex underwear; head/neck restraints; 4130 chromoly tubing; parking a turd rather than wadding it up....

I sat in the grandstands at SIS a few years back with my young son and witnessed one of the ugliest wrecks I've ever seen....I wonder if Keith Hutton would have thought you as stupid as do I???

I hope he wasn't trying to "save face" for some in-bred, banjo pickin' moron like you the night he died!

PA Pussies? I've been bracing myself for that one....lol. He really should have just taken a few laps in the heat and said the thing broke. The only consolation is he'll do something else this weekend, the beer cans will go flying and all will be forgotten...lol.

Another smart move by Fred, he doesn't have to prove jack to anyone especially a PA fan, sheesh! I guarantee you this same moron who bashed Freddie will be up front and center leading the cheers the next time he beats the Outlaws, WTF? Take It Easy.....

PS Cubic, pussycat had his tongue firmly planted in his cheek with his opening comment, hello.....

the posse faithfull bag'in on freddie? oh what a sweet day! lmao. and to cubic about his comments about traveling series turn outs, there must be a reason no one wants to run with you.

if freddie got out because he was not comfortable, then good for him. he has no reason to try to impress any one. least of all you guys.

Even Don Cherry seemed somewhat subdued....

Pretty sure when Cubic mentioned that the turnout could not get any worse, he was referring just to the USAC races in the area and the fact that Rahmer, Lucas and Steve Buckwalter were just about the only winged 410 drivers that attempted to run without a wing.

Yap...yap...yap... We're all speaking "tongue in cheek". I've heard the same thing from ten different people already...lol. Rahmer gives no quarter, and expects none himself, that's what his fans expect. Damn right we'll be united against the Outlaws and Canadian weasels alike...lol. You should know that yourself after hearing Dewease's victory lane interview in Charlotte...lol.

Look people I stated he is one of the greatest ever. I know local history and I know where Fred came from and what he has accomplished not only in other divisions but at that track in particular and thats what makes it even more of a disappointment, he was the leading all time feature winner there until about a year ago or so.

Now with all these politically correct cowardly butt smooching comments I am as equally disppointed in you all and I refuse to come sit in the stands with such cowards anymore, whatever happened to "run whatcha brung", "bring back the trophy or the steering wheel"?

I'll tell you what happened it has become "Tuck your tail between your legs, I can't run better than 20th I might as well go home and let my wife tell everyone how scared I was".

What an embarrassment, Old School Posse Proud here. When a driver was a driver and would run to the best of his abilities without FEAR. Long live the days of Smokey Snellbaker, Jan Opperman, Van May, Paul Pitzer.

Hey, your not gonna believe this, as I have been pretty hard on the posse the past couple months, but I agree with what Fred did. Fred has proven himself in a winged sprint-car many times over, and if he wasn't comfortable in a non-wing car what's the big deal? I happen to think the non-wingers are a bit on the dangerous side and overall don't think much of them. That's my personal preference. All in all I think it was a smart move on Fred's part. Im pretty sure he will spank the locals again somewhere this weekend with his wing back above his head.
