velocity motorsports report 5/25/2008 chico,ca. the velocity team woke up to cloudy skys sunday morning as they headed to silver dollar speedway,although there had been some rain on saturday it seemed that what rain was in the area sunday went around the track. the impending possible rain and the fair being in town left the track in a drier than normal condition and would dry out quickly and get very slick. myles bishop looked good in hot laps and the team went to work getting ready for qualifying as crew chief chuck cypert studied the track. myles would be the 21st car out for time trials, he turned a time of 12.753 which was 16th quick. fast time was kyle larson with a 12.343. myles and the cv fabricators/maclac paints/mtl manufacturing/pacific bolt/stud welding products/kaeding performance center/yak graphics/maxim sprinter would start 3rd on what was now a tricky slick track. myles was running in 3rd and holding his own when brad furr got by,next challenge came from andy gregg for the final transfer spot. myles was sticking to the bottom line as andy tried the top,as they came off turn 2 andy caught the cushion and came down the track as myles was coming off the bottom and they collided ending up with both cars in the infield and out of action for the heat race. the chuck cypert lead crew went to work repairing the bent parts and making adjustments for the b-main on what was now a very dry and dusty track. myles started in the 6th position and at the green flag proceded to go forward,passing was at a premium on very slick condition as myles was working the bottom line. while running 5th myles entered the corner as the car in front of him slowed to quickly and myles took avasive action to avoid hitting the car,myles had to spin the car out and stop to avoid the other car. restarting at the rear with laps running short myles hustled the car harder and harder and harder until myles and another car tried for the same piece of valuble real estate on the bottom and both cars spun to a stop. due to the 2 spin rule myles night was done,but knowledge was gained on a tricky condition which will payoff as the team goes forward into the scheduled season. next race for team velocity is june 7th at placerville. velocitymotorsportsracing.com
