Ray Hoedebeck started on the outside front row and got the jump out front when race went green and led the first lap. Third starting Tate Cole grabbed second with Mike Dilliard taking the third position, dropping Timms to fourth after the firsrt lap was complete.
Cole would take over the top position one lap later while Timms began picking off drivers one by one until reaching the runner up position on lap five before the first and only caution of the forty lap event fell.
The restart allowed Timms to restart on Coles rear bumper and as the race went back to green, Cole and Timms raced virtually side by side for a lap before Timms took over the top spot on lap six. Also during that lap five restart, Malchus would move up from his fifth starting position to work his way up into third and the race quickly became a three way battle between Timms, Cole and Malchus.
Lap twelve saw seventh starting Rodney Sanders overtake Cole for the third spot while up front, Malchus was begining to pressure Timms for the lead. Lap fifteen saw Sanders drive underneath Timms coming out of turn four to take the lead. That was short-lived, however, as Timms would regain the top spot two laps later on lap eighteen.
At the races midway point it was Timms, followed by Malchus, Sanders, Cole and nineth starting Bagley but on lap twenty-two, Malchus would again drive underneath Timms to retake the lead.
As this was taking place, Sanders began to make his move to challenge the top two as he then made it a three way battle for the lead. On lap twenty-six, Sanders got underneath Malchus and Timms to take the lead.
Timms would pressure for the next several laps before eventually fading with about five laps to go. Sanders would open a comfortable eight car length lead and would go on to take the victory.
Timms held on for second with Malchus's strong run ending in third. Cole settled for fourth while Murry rounded out the top five.
Lap leaders: Hoedebeck 1; Cole 2-5; Timms 6-14/18-21; Malchus 15-17/22-25; Sanders 26-40
