So far the earlier starting time and time trials has accomplished is rubber down follow the leader racing 2 nights out of 5. With as many good cars as they have been getting there will always be someone capable of winning on the front row. 4 of 5 have been won from the front row and the other came from row 2. The only advantage I see to time trials is a new car will not have to start at the rear in the heat race if he times decent.

how quickly we forget the DUDE won Sunday night from the fourth row.

I can live with one lap, but what you fail to understand however is that I have 360 miles to travel AFTER the races, and a job at 7:30 am so getting there after time trials has little affect on the real issues.
I have made the trip dozens of times, and I have to admit that Husets does a fantastic job of starting on time, and has a good record of decent finishing times.
Racing on Sunday nights has its own set of issues with the crowds including early in the year, racing is on a school night as well as a work night.
Do you have a major problem with drawing for heat races.
Do you prefer to cater to the sub-contract 1099 entertainers or the paying customer?
Racers will always gripe about the format and the pay, but they must remember that they are simply the entertainment at the track owners Bar & Grill.
Overall, I give Husets at least a B+ grade.
I must laugh at the fact that you seem to equate the addition of 3 WoO regulars to the weekly program to the fact that there are time trials, rather than the fact the WoO has simply lost 3 people off the tour who want to race closer to home now.
Let me assure you that Lasoski, Tatnell and Henderson have faced worse things in their career than lack of the advantage of time trials give. lol
|
duane, while i respect your opinions, with out the "sub contractors" there would be no need for the paying customer. i am not debating over the qualifying issue as i have not been involved with tracks that do not qualify. therefore i do not know first hand which is the one i prefer. i am just saying if you feel that you don't need to accomodate the racer, and concentrate on the fan, you are mistaken.

Cranky kids? That's their fault for breeding. You can solve that by duct taping them in the closet while you're gone.

never thought of that lol lol lol

I'm truly surprised to see a Henderson fan complaining that he wasn't on the front row...
|
who is complaining than henderson was not on the front row? i havn't seen that. as for me, i only asked why he was starting so far back in the field when he was fast time and i thought he had a good finish in his heat. i saw the other drivers that had a simular record for the night starting towards the front and was wondering how the field was set.

i am not familiar with the way things are done there. why is the D1 so far back in the main starting line up?
|
Huset's line-up procedures for 410s: Top 4 in each of the 3 heat races line up in positions 1-12, by time with an invert (6, 8 or 10) applied. 5th and 6th in the heats line up according to heat finish in positions 13-18. Henderson's 5th place finish in the 1st heat lined him up in position 13 in the feature.

I have no problem with a track tying to br fair with the drivers, but I do also know that they will never be completly happy, so spend a little time on the fans.
as Robert Lawton is quated as saying, the racers will race for a watermelon.
I don't believe in the shabby treatment that Lawty hands out, but there comes a time when the spectator is paying to see a race, not a debate.

I doubt it lol, after all the beer costs more than a carry out warm 6 pack and they actually try to make a profit off the popcorn, unlike the movie theaters lol

I think promoters have taken that "racers will race for watermelons" logic a bit too far. The fuel dealer, tire dealer and gas station won't take watermelon seeds for their product. So if you want racers to keep racing, you need to make it somewhat worth their while. And adding support divisions for drivers to drop into is not the answer. I will not race a 305 for peanuts, I'll just sell the race car and get a boat. No one will pay me to go boating either, but at least I won't have to tow it 300 miles to drive it for 22 minutes and I can get some pretty girls to hang out on it with me.

speaking of beer and popcorn...... duane, can you use any of your pull to make sure my buddy BK is well looked after and taken care of while he is out there this weekend being honored into the sprint car hall of fame. i know he is a california boy and not one of the mid-american shoes you guys out there love to fret over. still he has done a lot to put our part of the country on the sprint car map and we are proud to call him ours. well, we sometimes call him a lot more than that, but that is another story!

Trust me, I owe BK big time, he will be shown a good time as will the Padjens.
The second floor viewing area for the indutees is a guarntee of a good time, lots of bench racing and seeing old friends.

I would blame most of that on the switch to using Hoosiers on the RR.
These Hoosier's are way too damn soft. The American Racer that they used in past yrs was harder than the tires on my pickup. The track always slicked off but it very rarely took rubber and when it did it was from the left rear which was not a spec tire.
Get rid of the soft tires (LR and RR) and the "rubber down" problem is solved.
The earlier starting time is good as long as they are going to keep running the crap classes (hobbies and B-Mods). I'd rather go back to 8pm and no fenders.
