Bonus money up for grabs to winged sprint car drivers during May 25th Salute to Indy at Tulare Thunderbowl By Gary Thomas
Tulare, CA – May 12, 2008…With the second annual Salute to Indy featuring the USAC/CRA sprint cars coming up on May 25 at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway, a nice bonus will be up for grabs to winged sprint car drivers who shed their wings and compete during the night.
KRC Safety Equipment and Sharp Insurance, both of Visalia, will be putting up $500 each which will be paid out to the top four regular winged sprint car drivers who take the wings off for the event. Both parties are huge and loyal sprint car fans who want nothing more than to see as many winged sprint car drivers as possible compete at the Salute to Indy.
The payoff for the money to the top four highest finishing winged regulars will be $400 to the top finisher, $300 to the second, $200 to the third and $100 to fourth. The Salute to Indy last year saw a very successful inaugural event at the Thunderbowl and this year is expecting to be every bit as good when the wingless 410’s invade the 1/3 mile clay oval on Sunday night May 25.
Reserved tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling (559) 688-0909. For a seating chart and more info on the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway log onto http://www.thunderbowlraceway.com

More bonus money for winged drivers at Tulare Thunderbowl on Sunday May 25 By Gary Thomas Tulare, CA – May 12, 2008…With this morning’s announcement of bonus money up for grabs to winged sprint car drivers during the upcoming Salute to Indy at the Thunderbowl Raceway, more of it is coming in courtesy $500 from Guy Stockbridge of Elite Landscaping located in Clovis.
With Elite Landscaping’s contribution of $500 added to KRC Safety Equipment’s and Sharp Insurance’s donations of $500 each, a total of $1,500 will now be split between the top five highest finishing winged sprint car drivers during the USAC/CRA Wingless 410 Series sanctioned event on May 25.
The new figures will now be $500 for the highest finishing winged driver, $400 for the second, $300 for the third, $200 for the fourth and $100 for the fifth highest finisher. “We’re hoping this will entice some of the winged drivers to come on down since there aren’t any 410 races on Memorial Day weekend,” Don Sharp of Sharp Insurance & Bonding said. “We are definitely looking forward to this show and think it would be fun if we had some of the Northern & Central California regulars on hand.”
Last season’s inaugural Salute to Indy at the Tulare Thunderbowl was captured by wingless veteran Cory Kruseman of Ventura. The event saw a big crowd on hand and featured some outstanding racing on the 1/3 mile clay oval. In addition to the wingless regulars, three-time Oval Nationals champion Bud Kaeding is expected to be in action at the event this season and with the extra money hopefully a few more of the usual winged contingent will throw their name in the mix.
