USAC/CRA At Calistoga, CA 8/30 & 8/31

WOW! That poster really blows. It packs all of the excitement of a knitting show at the local retirement home. Why dont more tracks pay to have quality work done? Or better yet get a t-shirt designer to help out there are some quality designers in norcal.
Cheers!

Look at the Victorville openshow poster from a few weeks back, that is a nice looking poster. The dates should be clearly legible and the pertinant info clearly displayed. Been all over this country watching sprints and let me tell you some places get it RIGHT and some get it WRONG when it comes to promotion. Would it hurt to spice up the poster alittle? I just figured with artists like Brad Scadden around a promoter might want to enlist their services thats all. Sorry I was too critical right off the bat I just think this Calistoga deal is gonna be neat and I want to see it succeed.
Cheers!

Why waste money with posters? Where are you going to put them? It's 2008 put a banner on Hoseheads, run some tv spots, sell some t-shirts.... Just seems like the only places that you could put a poster up where people even give a crap would be at a track, But if your at a track i'm sure you already know about this show.... PS.. If i were making the poster, all it would have said is " YA!! IT'S REALLY GOING TO HAPPEN!"

YEA, Let's waste a bunch of money on posters instead of putting the money where it needs to be, in the racers and owners pockets. I think the poster looks just fine, kinda old school and traditional, which is fitting for the event..........

As of Thursday 4/24, the race is on for Labor Day. It is my understanding that USAC will both promote and sanction the race. USAC must submit a proposal as a formality to officially secure the event. They expect to submit it by the end of the week. Thus, if you call the speedway and they tell you that it is not yet official, then that is the reason. However, my conversation with the Patti Serini leads me to believe that they are preparing to solidify this deal upon receipt of the proposal.

In addition, My conversations with Steve Howard reveal that he is working hard to raise money for the drivers. Sponsorship for the Hard Charger, Heat race winners, Semi winners and hard luck are still available for each night. We need as many people to step up and support this event as possible, as the price of gas will be even higher for the travelers by the time of the race. We have a considerable amount of money already committed (but its not enough), which will go directly to the drivers and owners. Our current efforts are to obtain corporate support for the event. We are approaching local companies in Napa County tomorrow and Friday as well as any other supporters. If anyone has ANY corporate support, in the form of dollars or donations, please contact Steve Howard at SoCal (562) 862 9122. We have received inquiries from drivers throughout California, Indiana and Arizona that are interested in attending this race. Our goal is to see a star-studded group of drivers compete on this historic and beautiful 1/2 mile speedway. There is a committed group, which includes the efforts of Leroy Van Connet and Dick Vermeil in conjunction with USAC, putting this event together and we intend to make sure that it is a tremendous experience for the fans, drivers and owners. Thanks for all the dialogue and interest in this race. Stay posted as you will hear more in the upcoming weeks.

I'm looking forward to this event too.  I called the Calistoga office yesterday and the lady that answered said nothing has been decided yet.  Hopefully it will go forward.

Thank you madg17. I also have very good information concerning this great race date. USAC President Kevin Miller has taken a personal interest in making this race a reality. Thanks to Kevin, Steve Howard, Leroy Van Connett, the Vermeil brothers and everyone else who are working very hard to let us enjoy this two-day event.
