It is official, NO races at Cedar Lake Speedway tonight. I got the official word this morning at 8 AM.

Cedar Lake officials are going to try and reschedule this race at a later date, probably late in the season.

I will notify all you racers of a date when I find out more information on this.

Do you know why this was not an ASCS sanctioned race?

Sanctioning probably wouldn't have made much of a difference. So far since ASCS has been coming around here the smallest field of 360's I have seen was their Brainerd national touring event a couple of summers ago where I don't think they had over 20. The most 360's I have seen outside of Jackson was at an unsanctioned Billy Anderson Memorial a couple of years ago and I think that was mid 30's. Why pay the sanction fee if it's not going to result in a better field of cars? The ASCS only runs a couple of northern plains races around here so I don't think there's much loyalty to the cause. These guys are just happy if someone gives them a place to race where they don't have to drive 300 miles. Some own 360's and 410's and hit whatever shows come nearby but don't chase the ASCS points.

I thought that ASCS sprint cars would replace the old Wissota sprint car series, which it does to a certain extent by racing at some of the tracks that Wissota is associated with. Don't know/or care what their sanctioning fees are compared to Wissota. I see that the Jackson, MN Speedway promoter has started his own 360 sprint car series, instead of using ASCS. I know that ASCS has a good point fund at the end of the season, and you never know but CLS might draw a few extra cars because many of the 360 racers follow the circuit.

Speaking of Cedar Lake Speedway, I noticed that over the last 4 years that there on their 3rd sanctioning body of racing there. (Wissota, DTRA & now NASCAR). Can they not get along with the people who runs these series' or what's the deal? Geez, what's the next thing that they are thinking. Would it be going from a dirt track to a pavement track.

It's all about which sanction offers the best deal financially.

Stan you are right on, it all comes down to sanctioning fees and rules. Why pay thousands of dollars in fees when you can get the same cars for nothing. Plus, we let the cars run 4 different 4 right rear tires then what ASCS does . Plus the cars that have open heads are not legal. that's one reason for the lack of cars at shows aroind this area ASCS doesn't have a good point fund unless you run the full National Tour. The regional shows don't pay a good point fund from what I hear.
