i heard a lot of complaints here after the last gsc race at ocean speedway directed at the promotor/staff regarding the track conditions. i have yet to see any posts here addressing the track record setting conditions for the wright one 360 series race last fri. thanks ocean speedway for the effort in providing a track that could be raced hard on and led to limited yellows and crashes. i hope you will continue with the effort and that the teams and fans will thank you for it when it is good and just not bag on you when it is not so good.

yes thank you Mr Prentice---the Santa Cruz county fair board and your whole team for bringing sprint cars back to this area and doing such a remarkable job of turning a failing speedway into a first class racing facility, over the last 3 years ocean speedway has shot to the top of my list for favourite race tracks.

The 360 class is looking strong. Over 30 cars for the 1st race and over 20 for the 2nd one. The field is a great mix of veteran drivers and young up & coming drivers. The track also has a WOO date this year. It's going to be a great year for Ocean Speedway!

I mentioned on a previous post how good the track was last Friday night. The whole Prentiss (sp?) crew did a remarkable job. If they keep this up and get some warmer weather for the fans it will become the the place to be. How about 4-5 Wednesday 410 winged shows this summer?
Thanks to all...

i believe the track has a set number of dates it can race, designated by the city or county or something like that.

I never understood where all the undeserving criticism came from to begin with directed at Oceans and the promoter because of one sub part night. Im sure the weather leading up to and including that day had the largest impact on the track conditions for the GSC show.
Dirt tracks have bad nights, it happens. I remember plenty of nights at San Jose and Baylands where it was follow the leader around the bottom or it was so dusty, the scorers couldn't even see. I agree, neither is fan friendly, however, but it was 1 night. For the drivers, I think a previous poster said it best, the better drivers overcome and adapt to track conditions.
Best of luck to Oceans Speedway and all competitors.

Ocean is doing a great job. I don't understand the complaints about April 12th. If you compare lap times (mylaps.com) of the 2 GSC shows. April 12th fastest lap in main (Golobic 13.043) March 14th (Meyers 13.458) April 12th 9 cars under 13.7 in main, March 14th only 5 cars below 14.0. These posts this week have been stating a faster track is a better track, how come no one is complaining about March 14th? I think some people are looking for an answer when there is a first time winner.

because on April 12th in the main thy were running single file in the infield in turn 1,earlier in hot laps and qualifying and even for the heats the track was fast.don't get me wrong i to think that the ocean team is doing an awesome Job.and that Shane had that night covered no-matter what the track was like. but that night the track was rubber down in turn 1 so bad that if you entered the turn on the track then you slid all the way to the outside wall;the entrance too turn one was blue all the way across,----but sometimes stuff happens---- ---its to bad that curfews have changed the way dirt tracks are prepped i can remember siting at baylands many nights until 2 or 3 in the morning because they would grade the track when it got like that, San Jose graded their track too just about every race but thy only ran one or two classes and were able to still get out early, personally i think when the golden state classic sprint cars run you should only run one other filler class with them and if you have a perfect track all night then have an intermission and do interviews or get out early, but if the track goes bad then you have that time to grade the track and have a good racing surface for nor Cal's elite travelling sprint car series---just my 2 cents---any way keep up the good work ocean speedway and thanks again-----ps---now what would be really awesome is if you built a 1/2 mile track around your current track (we are loosing nor cals only 1/2 mile track and thats going to suck)and had gsc-usac non wing and the outlaws run on that and one more thing why no BCRA ?

Ocean Staff..............your hardwork is paying off each time there is a sprint car race. From not having sprint cars two years ago, to having a succesfull series, a WOO show and growing schedule.....keep it up. Nothing is perfected overnight, but your harwork an effort is appreciated from the drivers and fans I assure you.
