Knoxville Raceway Offers Family Fun Packs and Family Sections!

(Bill W) One of the most interesting seasons in the history of Knoxville Raceway is set to kick off a week from Saturday. The season opener April 19 is right around the corner, and the racing promises to be a thrill, but there are other reasons to be excited!

“Family Fun Packs” will make their debut in 2008. Knoxville Raceway is already an affordable mode of entertainment, but it just got better! A family of four can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for just $44! The offer is good for any “regular” night of Knoxville Championship Cup Series racing!

In addition, sections I and J will be deemed as a family section, with no alcohol or tobacco allowed! These sections will be in effect for all races that do not have reserved seating!

For more information on the track’s schedule, visit their website at www.KnoxvilleRaceway.com or call 641 842-5431.

This is a VERY positive step in getting the younger people into the stands.

The kids are future customers.

Start on time and get the races over by 10 PM most nights and you will have a Home Run.

Thank you Knoxville.

Let's hope this works for everyone. I know it's been mentioned time and again and I'm glad K'ville is taking the initiative.

Just curious, will they check id's to make sure you are really a family or can four people get together and take advantage of this deal? I sure don't want to get in trouble with anyone by pretending someone's my brother and they really aren't.

Congratulations to the Knoxville management for finally addressing the lack of non-smoking, non-alcohol sections. With the large grandstands, there is no good reason that they could not have implemented and enforced this sooner. One night last year, my wife and I got up and moved 3 times because a smoker or two would sit in front of us and the smoke blew in our face. I e-mailed the Knoxville management and explained what happened and asked why they could not have a smoke free section. A lady answered the e-mail and stated that they have tried it before and they could not enforce it. Other tracks have smoke free sections and they don't have any trouble. Knoxville can make it work if they make an effort to enforce it. Whoever at Knoxville that encouraged this change, thank you.

muddy's right. I haven't confirmed about before July 1, but definitely after, there will be no smoking in the stands at any public outdoor venue in Iowa...

The newest law being discussed in Des Moines is that NO sex may take place in any Motel room in the state.

smoking only in the gaming area at the Casinos.

Time will tell how well this law will be enforced as it is for the most part self regulating unless complaints.

Hard to completly ban smoking at an outdoor event, but a restricted area might be better.

I guess Fraternal Orginazations are allowed smoking also such as VFW.

Maybe the tracks will have to lease a section as a VFW Post or something lol.

As a no longer smoking person, it took quitting to understand how offensive smoking really is.

I would rather be in a crowd of smokers than a crowd of drunks dumping beer down my neck and yelling the 7 words you can't say on TV all night.

Some places are better than others, Knoxville has always been a notch above most, and HUGE grandstands work in their favor also.

I can always move IF I don't like my neighbors.

Thank you Knoxville Raceway, for both the family package, and the family section!

The wife, daughter and I have been asking for this for several years,(thanks Rick ((fair board member)) for letting them bend your ear year after year) for one designated family section. We didnt care if it was section A, or ZZ, just a place where we could sit and not be distracted . Were there to watch a race. period. Everyone blasts us for wanting this section, they say, just move. Well, we do move, often, but that doesnt mean that we wont have to move again, and again, like mentioned above. A dedicated family section is self regulating, in the fact that if someone comes in that shouldnt be there, then you can simply ask them to go sit in the other 85% of the bleachers. My daughter got one dedicated family section integrated at Jackson Speedway, in 1998. Its still in place today, and is still visited by the same families, and is as full as any of the other sections.

The package deal sounds like a great buy also.

I wish all tracks had a non-smoking section that you were allowed to drink in.

Good cause I have..... Section I Row 40, for nationals. Like for the last 25 years. Though I can remember as a kid (4 year old) I never even remember seeing alcohol at the top section of row 31. Though I think H would have been a better pick for no alcohol. Cause I remember J and K being a party area, ofcourse like 17 year ago. Main reason, photo and press area was on top of those sections.

Though honestly I would have went for sections L M N. But that is where "Dingus crowd is." though they are at the bottom of the stands and never cause much crap. They couldn't if they wanted cause no one could walk past row 15.

* Edit* the family section and package is cool. Racing is about the family and if we plan to get more ass' in the seats we need more fans, with great kids. Keep kids tickets cheap. I might pay $35 to see an WoO race but I am willing to bring my kids and maybe brothers kids if Kids prices are $2-7 . We need fans who will love this shit as much as we all do as Hosers.

Did I miss something? I saw an INDOOR smoking ban get passed (minus those places with the biggest lobby dollars for politicians). I also find it amusing that the party that purports to be fighting for the working class and the small business owners (Democraps) voted this thing into law when most of your smokers are working class, the small business bars are going to take the hit, but the big money casinos can keep smoking. Must be more global warming.
