Greenwood, NE (April 8, 2008) – The American Sprint Car Series Midwest and Northern Plains Regions square off once again at I-80 Speedway on Friday April 11, 2008 and Saturday, April 12, 2008 for the third annual Spring Spectacular making this a weekend of racing that Midwest sprint car fans don't want to miss. Also on tap for Friday's show will be the NASCAR Late Models and Modifieds. This race will be the first night of points for the two NASCAR classes. Making their 2008 point season debut on Saturday night are the NASCAR Pro Ams and IMCA Crate Models
"This is the third year we are hosting this season opener for both the ASCS Midwest and Northern Plains Region 360 Sprints, and we expect this year’s show to be even more exciting then last year’s," said Ed Kosiski, track promoter. "We're pleased that we can bring such a high caliber of 360 sprint car racing to our area, and also treat the fans to the excitement of our weekly classes.”
The 2007 show saw a shortened field of 13 out of 20 cars finish the race after a spectacular crash on the green flag lap. When the 20 lap race got underway, it was all Brian Brown who led from flag to flag, taking the win.
The Northern Plains Region is expected to bring a contingent of more than 20 drivers from the North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota area, with the Midwest Region attracting all the top contenders throughout Nebraska, Iowa and portions of Missouri.
Both nights of racing action at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway are slated to get under way at 7:00 pm with hot laps at 6pm. The pit gate opens at 4pm and the grandstands open at 5:30 pm.
