Drivers Gun For Opening Grand Slam Series Win!

By Gary Costa

Hanford, CA – April 9, 2008…This Saturday night, April 12th, the Grand Slam Series returns to Kings Speedway's 3/8 mile dirt track, as it will be invaded by some of the best 360 non-wing Sprint car drivers in the state.

This weekend will also mark the first showdown between the two clubs, as Round #1 in the exciting and always competitive series kicks off.

The Bandit/VRA Grand Slam series was established in 2005 to showcase the depth and talent that reigns in the California non-wing 360 Sprint car ranks.

The drivers will no doubt leave fans breathless with all out, side-by-side racing. The drivers will also be "back'n-it-in". A proud tradition and style that non-wing Sprint car racing is known to produce.

To be crowned the Grand Slam Series champion, the driver and team, must show determination, but must also be able to adapt to different race tracks, and their ever changing characteristics. Consistency and going "all out" will be key, in all 4-race series stops.

Other dates for the series include; June 28th Bakersfield, July 26th Santa Maria, and the conclusion of the series, August 23rd at Ventura Raceway.

In last weekend's stout VRA competition at Ventura Raceway, Ojai, California hot shoe, Troy Rutherford stood tall in victory lane. And in Bandit Sprint car action, Clovis, California masher, Peter Murphy picked up the win at Bakersfield.

What team will put all together this year and be crowned the 2008 Grand Slam Champion? Let's push them off this weekend and watch them "get their elbows up!" in this exciting 4-race series.

Admission: $15.00 for Adults, Seniors $12.00, Kids 6-12 $5:00, 5 & under free, and The Family Pack (2 Adults & 2 Kids) $30.00
