PIEROVICH NEW WESTERN MIDGET POINT LEADER; FORD TAKES 30-LAP VENTURA FEATURE
APRIL 7, 2008 --- “Remember the Alamo” might be the theme of this year’s USAC Western Midget Car Series title chase. Scott Pierovich of Alamo, Calif. is the current point leader, trying to move up one position from last year’s runner-up point ranking.
Pierovich will take a 12-point lead over “rookie” Nic Faas into an April 19 race at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif.
Josh Ford of Oxnard, Calif. earned his first series triumph Saturday night, leading all 30 laps in his Berry Pack/V-Mac JFM/Fontana at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. Faas finished second ahead of Pierovich, Cory Kruseman and Josh Lakatos.
The April 19 Tracy race will be the first for the series on pavement in 2008.
