Went Brill's last night. Sprint race was fine. But what really caught my attention was the Factory stock class, Well I think it was Factory's or was it pro stocks or super stock, or What was that class? And why everyone try to stay away from the "1" car? Why did most everyone in the stands boo that car at the end of the race?

That's my Opinion and I'm stick'en to it.

Well, Dirttrack, that is the direction the drivers who attended the rules meeting wanted to go. I for one was shocked!!!! In a time when everyone else is crying the no money blues Factory Stock drivers/owners seem to have bottomless pockets. I expected to see rule changes that made it more entry-level-friendly, and definately more $$$ friendly. Now, I understand an aluminum body is cheaper in the long run, becuz you just keep banging it out, but the initial expense prevents most guys from buying them.

In my PERSONAL, OFFTRACK opinion, it will be the eventual death of the class (or it'll become Pro Stocks). Most of the grassroots, low-budget guys cannot afford to be competitive, and really how much fun is it to compete if you know you can't really hope to win. I love Factory Stocks, and these are not factory, nor are they stock; but the majority rules.

As to the boos from some members of the crowd, Johnny Reed, Jr. has absolutely dominated this class at this track for the last couple of years. It's been my experience that when you win alot you make some "enemies" along the way.

Thanks for coming out.

Please, I want to get this straight right off. I have nothing againist the drivers or owners. I'm just was wondering why the pro stock type body and the booing. I agree, I can afford the body,But I always thought Factory stocks were a street cars stripper down. It was supposed to be a fun class. I am tring to get a car together for later on this year. But it won't have that body style and I will most likily not be as fast as 1 and 15, but I'll try.

You know the SFS in the past did the same thing. Change the rule for the majority. It Priced the low budget racing out of town, Now it looks like out of town is out. You would think the promoters would see that trend. I know a lot of track east have gone to "These are the rule and we are not change them" They have high car car. And great racing. By keeping the rule the same, a racer can reduce their cost, in the long term. Now lets see $25. each x 2 = $50. $5 per gal x 10 gals = $50. $75. to fill up the towing vehicle. $30. for dinner. $30. to fill the cooler with ice and drinks, All that = $235. That alot to pay out each weekend. Yep I'm cheap.

And this is Fun!!!!!!!! I'v got to be my car done.

Mark Brill has done a fantastic job. Sure hope He continues.

That's my Opinion and I'm stick'en to it.

I meant no disrespect to the owners or drivers, either. I only attempted an explanation at how we got where we're at.

I too long for the days of a factory appearing body, with a somewhat stock motor, great head to head competition, where almost anyone can win, without breaking the bank.

I could continue on this subject for hours, but it won't change anything. And sometimes stating one's opinion has a way of biting one in the butt.

Secretly, I'd like to see Mark add a true stock class, be it Bombers, Hobbys, Pure Stock, whatever. Not sure more classes are a good idea right now, but I'd still like to see it.

If your ever at the track again, run me down, (if you can stop me for a minute). I'll talk your ear off about this.

Greg, everyone wants to go faster & to do that you have to spend money, plain & simple. I wish the old F/S class was like it used to be also. But those days are gone! All I can tell you is to eat at home, pinch pennies!

Where are you getting fuel for $5? I want some!! $25 for ice & drinks in the cooler? What are you drinking? I take iced tea & water to the track. $6 now for racing gas! I can pull to Ada & race for around $125-150!

Nowdays you got to have sponsors & I appreciate the ones I've had for the last 20 yrs. or I'd have been done along time ago!! Not bashing you here Greg, but its "Time To Play The Game"! Gotta pay to play!

I agree with Larry yes we have dominated the class and win alot and when you win to much you will get booed it has always been that way thru the years, but why would the crowd cheer when another car spins you out that is 2 weeks in row to get damage from the same car, and this needs to stop we all go there to race hard, race clean, to have fun, and to win it's not about the money, but i will say this we are not going to beat & bang all over someone each week and tear our car up, and to tell ya the truth if we would have run in there under the 15 car and spun him out we would have got the Black Flag, I want clean hard racing and not intentional running into as it has been the last 2 weeks, or it is going to be a very ugly year...and I know nobody want thier cars tore up and we don't either !!!

I have one question for you D_Waller! Why do you always have an excuse for loosing??? This time its the 15 car that spun you out last time it was the cochran boys fault or its that your car just wasnt running good that night!! You guys win all the time and you had a good loud cheering crowd out there last season so it seems to me that there is a reason for the boooing (maybe the same thing I see) its not that you win all the time!! The 1j has some good competition out there this year not just by the 15 car but it looks as if the 23 car gets a handle on things he might be pretty good also!!! I hope to see more than just 2 or 3 cars out there thats fast, thats what racing is supposed to be COMPETITIVE right, not just walking away with a win every weekend. SO please just suck it up and get over it the 1j WAS NOT the fastest car out there last weekend

Mr. Waller I would like to reply to your thread! Last year I got bumped and banged on by my fellow racers including the 1J, Never complained once! "Thats just Racing" Last week!, I was brake checked and bumper hooked in the corners by the 1J. Not one complaint! I came and offered my apology to the 1J for somthing that was not my fault. As for the spin? I was holding the same line I had run all Night! Your car was " LOOSE" and your driver was over-driving the corners and diving down. Watch the Film! The 15 car went straight and the 1J spun behind 15, Nothing intentional, Once again, I offer my apology! "Thats just Close Racing!" Danny, If you want clean racing you have to give it! Lighten up, "BE NiCE", After all this is a "Racing Family"! Right! Danny? SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!

Spec i respect your opinion and i did not come to start a fight, and I am not making an excuse, i was trying to answer the other posts and yes it would be great to have more competition, good hard racing, close door to door is what makes you fans come out and watch and enjoy the races, so keep comming back and there will continue to be some great racing action the 44 & 11 are supposed to be back this week, so that will put 2 more fast cars out there. Brian, you know if we would have done that to you we would have got the stick and thats what I am trying to explain, now you did appologize and thank you, but 2 weeks ago you were at least 2 car lenghts behind u never got brake checked by the 1j you just never lifted or hit your brakes, and yes you did get pushed down the back stretch and hooked in the corner after that he caught you to show you he did not appreciate that, all I am saying is give and take brother, no need for either of the cars to get torn up each week on purpose, and you know how he drives he runs in the corners and diamonds them off u knew where he was going, so with that said now you know, i am not saying it was not hard racing by 2 fast cars, but there are not too many drivers there who look past thier hood, congrats on the win Brian, so thats all i have to say I aint here to fight but to state my opinions, just as everyone else does, have a great week everyone, cya at the track !!!

Spectator, You hit that nail on the head. I don't see what the 1j gets out of having to win all the time anyway. As a past driver if I had dominated a class the way 1j has the past 2 yrs. I'd have moved up a class where there was some competition. Up untill now the 1j might as well go out there and run by himself most of the time. As from a fans point of view. the 1j got into the 15. thats what the boooing was about. what's the old saying rubbins racing! 1j show some sportsmanship, congragulate the 15, tell him good race , shake hands and try again next week. Who knows you might come to find out a good competitive race is alot more fun than running out front all the time, and gives you much better bragging rights. Keep up the good work 15 . 23's looking real good to with some seat time.

Damn this makes me miss my old factory stock !!!!! I am friends with both parties ...! 1st week yah brian got into turn 1 a little hot and layed the fender . But this past week brian had johnny passed on the inside comming out of turn 2 yah they rubbed a little but it looked to me like johnny layed the hammer down a little too quick and turned it around . No harm no foul its just racin .... but hhey thats just my opinion from the outside lookin in .......

But I will say Johnny does have a little stiffer competion this year !

Both of them guys are fast I have raced with Johnny for a long time and had some real nail biters but he always drove me clean good luck to both but don't let the grudge get out of hand guys it's just a sport !

winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

Ok, you guys, how about toning it down. This aint NASCAR. I was not my entent to start a fight. I realize why some are upset. But again why the "Pro Stock" body? That's not "factory" I have never seen a car on the road with that body style. The rules state 108" wheel base. There are plenty of car with that wheel base. The skills and knowledge base is out there to race these cars and race them safely. So I ask What is the real reason for the "Pro Stock" Bodies?

Flash, I feel the only reason the class has gone to HELL is US DRIVERS and OWNERS. We voted the class to what it is at the SFS and other tracks have followed suit. This path we are on has failed. We need to correct this. At other tracks "Factories Stock" are alive and well. So WHY can we get it together?

You guys keep it real. Doing it ondirt, it's done the best.

That's my Opinion and I'm stick'en to it.

I gotta agree with most of what Jorski said. I will preface what I say, by saying my view of turn 2 is probably the worst to make any kind of call about what the guy on the outside is doing, but FROM MY VIEWPOINT, I didn't see anything that would have required any action from the track officials.

Apparently, the track officials saw it the same way.

Its a matter of opinion; for everyone who saw Brian run into Johnny, there will be someone who saw Johnny run into Brian, and someone who says they both should be black-flagged, and someone who says its all just racing.

What's important is that we don't let this "Racing Family " grudge get to the point where "Dad" has to punish anyone. Keep it friendly, it's "just racin'", after all!!!!!

My suggestion to both of you, is that you don't get so focused on beating each other that you forget the other competition out there. That 23 car is coming!!!!!

Like Shawn said its all in fun & thats the way its supposed to be! Its just a hobby right?

My opinion on the bodies is that are alot easier to maintain than the "stock" body. I run the camaro body & its getting almost impossible to get body parts at a racers rate. (Free to cheap) Personally I think they should remain steel & not aluminum.

Announcer, I'm gonna try to make it down there in a couple of weeks! Depends on how things go in the days to come!!

I've run against Johnny to many times to count & never had any problems with him. As for Brian, I don't think we've ran together, I might be wrong! So I can't have any problems with him either! But I'll be there to compete!!!!!!!!
