"there isnt really a track bar. Unless you consider dingus"
I took this qoute from another thread and thought it would best be served with a new thread rather than hijack it. Now I've been to more than a few track bars in my life, but without a doubt, the Dingus stands out. #1. It absolutely is about as close to the racetrack as one could be. #2. Could not be any racer friendly. #3. Beer is always cold & wiskey is available. #4. As hard of partying crowd as can be found. #5. Dingus Bar supports sprint car racing and partying at many tracks outside of it's home track of Knoxville. Damn, I love that bar! I made my first visit in 1978 and I still think I'm 25.

In the USA it has to be number one, two, three etc.
But, in Australia the bar overlooking turn 1 at Bunbury was the best I've ever been to and if the race track in Perth (Claremont?) was still alive then it would be a tough call as the one there in turn 3 rocked as well.
The entire infield at Daytona while not officially listed as a bar is not far behind either, especially between the twin 150's and the 500, four days of fun and frivolity that you won't forget or maybe remember, lol. Take It Easy....

At the now closed Sunset Speedway in Omaha was located about as nice of a Bar and Grille in the country, sad to say I was in the Air Force at the time and too young to be served.

Agreed Offie. The Dingus is by far the best in the land, and a visit to K-Ville without getting to the Dingus is just wasted time.
In true POSSE fashion, I would have to nominate the Tilton Hilton at WG as a contender for the second position.

Wow, Duane. They had planes that flew when you were young??lol
Our second favorite has to be the Wagon Wheel. We've often talked about going there some random weekend just for the hell of it.
We've always liked Tail Gators when we go to Huset's, although they've changed some in the last couple of years.
Much like the Grove and the Tilton Hilton, which I may have drank at before, once we get to the track that's where we stay. With less multi-day show these days, it's become drive there drive home. Maybe that's something the local economies should keep in mind. I know of a few establishments in Tulsa that do very well in early January.

DrakPak- the Tilton Hilton be a place or an actual bar? Sounds like the ol' East Bay Country Club that used to reside next to the creek in the East Bay parking lot back when it was a sprint car facility. Always a great place to party and it really blossomed during the Winter Nationals back in the day.

The Hilton is a place that I have never walked away thirsty from. Good hospitality, a warming fire when needed, and always some kind of food on hand. As far as an establishment selling alcohol for profit...................it is not................just had to get a PA plug in yur thread Offie.............it's all good. Blenders do run with great regularity in the lobby of the Hilton throughout the summer though.
They fixed up the bar around the corner from WG by Ashcombe's, but I haven't been in yet. I'm afraid that it's a bit too high rent for we PA racefans.

The Dingus and The Wheel are great no doubt about it.
Need to mention the Pit Stop which sits beside the parking lot at I-30 in Benton, Ark. Always have to drop in during the STN's. They serve some good food as well. Also if you want to buy booze, there's a liquor store just a few hundred feet to the south.

As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up.
She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, & knocks on the door. The trucker lowers the window, & she says "Hi, my name is Jennifer & you're losing some of your load."
The trucker ignores her & proceeds down the street.
When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again. She jumps out of her car, runs up & knocks on the door. Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi, my name is Jennifer, & you're losing some of your load!"
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again & continues down the street.
At the third red light, the same thing happens again. All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker rolls down the window. Again she says "Hi, my name is Jennifer, & you're losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green, the trucker revs up & races to the next light. When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, & runs back to the blonde. He knocks on her window, & after she lowers it, he says... "Hi, my name is Alan. It's winter in Pennsylvania & I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!"

Dingus is great but here's some others...
Little Springfield (RIP) had a great bar just outside turn one - my personal favorite.
Elephant Run for the Chili Bowl. (I know it's only temporary)
Does Eldora still have its bar - haven't been there in a few years...

I'll put Dingus' portable bar (AKA Da' Bus) at the Front Row Challenge as the wildest thing this side of Daytona. When the "Bulls" aint a lookin' ..... the show is as good as The Wood Shed ... and my beer is ice cold and the whiskey free !!!

Dingus is a great bar and the best to party in, especially if you are lucky enough to win at Knoxville and go ovre after the race. I was glad someone mentioned I-30 in Little Rock. For us older folk, that bar has great atmosphere, great waitresses, food and drink. I would say that is the best part of going to I-30 to race is to get to go to that bar.

i figured that Duane Davis would contribute nothing. i was right, as usual.
the Bar/museum/cafeteria at Angell Park looks like to the winner. it's acuatally on turn 2. not across the street or down the road.

Speaking of bars, Is the "Sprints Lounge" still open in Knoxville? I stopped down there to have a drink last Nationals but it was closed! Redecorating or closed for good?? Found a bar close to it that was down in a basement type room, went in for a drink but was not to impressed.

81 Speedway in Wichita, Kansas has a "real bar" at the track on the main grandstand don't they?
