APRIL 19 LAWRENCEBURG SPRINT RACE POSTPONED; NEW DATE BEING NEGOTIATED

MARCH 18, 2008 --- Inclement weather, which has led to construction delays at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway, has forced postponement of the scheduled April 19 USAC National Sprint Car race at the dirt track.

The track is undergoing extensive upgrades, including increasing the size of the oval, installation of concrete walls and catch fencing and other amenities which will elevate Lawrenceburg Speedway among the elite short tracks in the nation.

“Race organizer Dave Rudisell and I are working to establish a viable reschedule date and hope to make an announcement regarding that soon,” said USAC National Sprint Coordinator Greg Staab.

Lawrenceburg Speedway has a storied USAC racing history, having hosted a total of 52 USAC Midget, Sprint and Ford Focus races since A.J. Foyt won the Midget opener there in 1961. Jon Stanbrough and Dave Darland, the winningest USAC drivers in track history, shared “Indiana Sprint Week” glory there last year, while National Sprint Champ Levi Jones also won in the Sprints and Kevin Swindell won in the Midgets during 2007.
