Long before IMCA type mods ruled the land, there was a class that ran here and there and many times in the '60s they ran with open wheel 6 bangers. This car is VERY similar to my Dads first car-

they ran these in Texarkana in the early 70s. they wrer called hobby stocks at one track and hobos at others. pretty cool

I remember the hobby stocks well. At Lawton it was common to have a 20+ car A main and most all of them were 55-57 chevies or at least GM. I still want one.
The gist was the small block chevy was easy to get then too.
