dude at the very least change your screen name - it doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense to always bash your favorite driver.........................

I hate nascar but yet really respect and like Tony Stewart for how brutally honest he is. very straight forward. and in a series that so highly promotes the clean cut boyish lookin' white boy who gives robotic answers to every question - I think someone like Tony Stewart should be appreciated. and in matters pertaining more to dirt track racing - is one of the FEW who has even attempted to give back anything to it. some may not like hus race teams or even how he runs Eldora - but he coulda been like Jeff Gordon and completely ignored dirt racing. instead he is an active and positive figure for the sport.

and as much as he wants to win - I'm sure for point purposes and stuff - and under the circumstances with the tires - was happy with his teams performance. Kyle Busch may look like a fairy - but he is a good driver. just the highlights I saw on sportscenter I was amazed at how horribly the cars were handling. the impression I got was it took good drivers to get it done that day - and Stewart and Busch are definitely of the best in the series. but then again - Tony Stewart I think is hands down the best driver in the world - and probably the most versatile race care driver we will EVER see...........

damn I can't believe I just ranted bout nascar..................waste of time.

The tire business is VERY COMPETITIVE. Thus I have to wonder if there isn't a quiet directive somewhere in the background to make a few stinker tires in order to spice up the race. These tires are aquired sort of like a lottery fashion and there is enough possibly so that most teams will get one on occasion. It is a bad idea to assume that the public doesn't notice when your brand of tire isn't up to snuff. Even if you're the only supplier.

AJ Foyt also did such a thing privately back in the '60s when he was trying to bring in Goodyear for Indianapolis as well as dirt open wheel cars.

The story goes that a copy of this picture was sent to the head of Goodyear via a mutually respected friend in an envelope. There was also a note that said "Anytime I have to work this hard and run second(which he did on this day), that means you're tires are no f@#$&* good!" You do what have to do before someone gets hurt.

The only thing is since Ernie Irvan had the career ruining crash from a blown tire (during a tire war with Hoosier, both were skating the edge on safety) I have wished for tire safety to be an issue of high priority. One blown $300 tire can help demolish a $100,000 + car and possibly kill a driver if it goes out in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I don't know why, but it seems tire failures have been all too common in the last 15 years. Really bad in the last 5. JMO

The company I work for looked at getting in on the NASCAR deal but the tire tests were to brutal! I think Neil Bonnet was the driver and his sentiments were unfavorable. I won't say who the company is, but they used to use a baby to help sell tires.
