Jackson Speedway Sprint Car Spring Nationals Brought to you by Van Wyhe Livestock and Folkens Brothers Trucking By: Tom Svoboda/Jackson Speedway
Jackson Minnesota (March 8, 2008) – The 2008 season at the Jackson Speedway is really starting to take shape. We are kicking off the season with a new event that will take the sprint car world by storm. With the help of two new sponsors, Van Wyhe Livestock and Folkens Brothers Trucking we are proud to announce the Jackson Sprint Car Spring Nationals.
The race will take place on Friday, May 9th, and will feature the 360 Sprint Cars, along with Double Barrel Sprints and a third class of sprints to be announced in the very near future.
This event will be the highest paying spring 360 Sprint Car purse in the Upper Midwest with first place paying $2500; $1500 for second; $1250 for third; $1000 for fourth; $900 for fifth; $800 for sixth; $750 for seventh; $700 for eighth; $650 for ninth; $600 for tenth; $500 for eleventh through thirteenth; $400 for fourteenth through sixteenth; $300 for seventeenth and eighteenth; and $250 for nineteenth through twenty- second.
The format for the 360 Sprints will be heat race passing points with the top ten in points competing in a dash for the starting line-up for the $2500 to win main event. We are currently in the process of lining up additional cash and contingency awards for the heat races and the dash.
Promoter Jon McCorkell had this to say about the event “I never would have dreamt we could put up this kind of purse for an event outside the Jackson Nationals and then we have two great new sponsors step forward, Van Wyhe Livestock and Folkens Brothers Trucking, and make this the biggest spring 360 Sprint Car race in the Upper Midwest.”
In addition to this event being the season opener at the Jackson Speedway it also will be the inaugural event to the newly formed Jackson Speedway Touring Series. This series will be for 360 Sprints and include approximately ten events at the Jackson Speedway and various surrounding tracks.
Watch www.jacksonspeedway.com for more details in the upcoming days as we have many big things in the works.
Everyone talks that they want a big 360 show well heres our change now lets make it happen and spread the word.

"The midwests biggest sprint car show"? That would be the Knoxville Nationals.

OK, the Knoxville 360 nationals would be bigger than this event. He was just posting a big 1 day 360 show in the midwest that is to be held Friday May 9th.

I believe it says Upper Midwest. That has included Huset's for years, but not Knoxville...guess it depends on where you hail from!
If this post isn't results, stories or something c
constructive, it isn't me!

I dunno .... anywhere south of Knoxville is probably "upper midwest" in the eye of the beholder. Sounds like a attempt to make a nice show for the 360 cars. With the weather the midwest (upper, lower, sideways, down) has been having this winter are "studded" rear tires allowed?? Will the ice be off the ponds by May 9th. ?? Al Bore where are ye ??

Plus in our press release Tom had said "biggest Sping 360 race in the upper midwest"....Otherwise heck our own nationals are bigger, or of course Knoxville.

Every track in the country has a "Nationals" race now. Some, like Jackson, has had them for years; but other tracks just have big races and they call them "Nationals".

We had called our first race of the year the "Frost Buster" for the last 17 years, but know a lot of tracks call there opener the Frost Buster. So this being an all Sprint Car Show, and moving it up a week and to a Friday, we thought a new name would not be a bad idea. We thought this had a nice ring to it.

Jon,
Fantastic Idea! Keep up the great work - I date back to the VFW days and Jackson's very own first nationals - I really anticipate the rebirth, if you will, of one of the finest racing venues North of I-80 and south of I-90; east of US 71 and west of MN Hwy 4.
