Sherman Strikes in ASCS Canyon Region Opener
Lonnie Wheatley, PHOENIX, Ariz. (March 8, 2008) – Jeremy Sherman picked right up where he left off last year by winning Saturday night's season-opening feature event for the Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region atop Manzanita Speedway's 1/3-mile clay oval.
After winning 12 of 20 feature events en route to the ASCS Canyon Region championship last year, Sherman raced to victory lane in Saturday's Tribute to Jimmy Blanton in front of Missouri's Jesse Hockett, with R.J. Johnson, Nathan High and 23rd-starter Brian Camarillo rounding out the top five.
Chris Bonneau, 19th-starter Bob Ream, Jr., Justin Fisher, Shon Deskins and 20th-starter Thomas Ogle completed the top ten.
Heat races for the 32-car field were topped by Mike Leslie, Jeremy Reagles, High and Bonneau, with Bernie Smith winning the "B" Main.
