As everyone knows, Robby Gordon showed up at Daytona with an unapproved bumper cover on his Dodge. A nose piece was ordered from the manufacturer and and was put on the car as they rushed to switch from Ford to Dodge. The unapproved piece was discovered on February 8th in INITIAL inspection long before the car ever hit the track. The team took the car back to the garage and returned to inspection with the proper nose on the car and passed inspection.

With all the being said, here comes the question.

Did NASCAR hand down too stiff of a penalty with the fine, loss of points and suspension of the crew chief? Robby Gordon could potentially be put out of business for something that wasn't his doing.

Maybe David can put a poll box in here.

If that is way the nascar handled it yes. I knew they penalized him but not what for. But, if that is the way they dealt with the issue, then they screwed him.

Robbie needed that run though, points or no points. The crew chief may stay home, but the engineers, mechanics and communications equipment(cell phones, walkie talkies, laptops etc) still get to go to the track. Thus the crew cheif still gets to call the shots, just not in person.

I'm sure most people know this, but his crew chief is past sprint car driver and All Star champion Frankie Kerr.

Yup, Frankie drove for Shoff Motorsports for 20+ years. The same ride that Jeff Gordon was fired from.

I did wonder about the Frank Kerr they mentioned in the paper. DUH! I actually thought they might be related somehow. I have an excuse- been working nights.

The article i read said nothing about the infraction thus i am behind with this local toilet/news paper we get around here.
