I agree, "KISS" is "keep it simple stupid". Some of us are pretty busy. If it gets complicated, i'm done. JMO

I agree with keeping it simple for the most part. My only concern is that everybody is going to go with the "safe picks" every week. I have no idea how you would go about doing it but it'd be nice if there was some way to work in some sort of incentive for picking someone who isn't... say in the top 5 in points or something. Just an idea.

Ok, but what's the use in picking if you can't pick someone that you think can or will win? Do I not understand this game?
Hey, J.D. What do you mean, exactly by backups?

I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't pick the driver you think is going to win or do well.
I'm saying that it'd be nice if there was some way of working in an extra bonus for picking a driver who isn't already in the top 5 in points. Kind of like betting odds. You get rewarded for picking the underdog (IF and ONLY if he does well.) But I don't have any idea how you would do it without things getting complicated.
I just figured something like this would keep thing interesting.
reward those who make good picks (not just safe picks), and would keep
the picks from getting stale every week. Otherwise I'm afraid that
everyone's picks will look the same and will look something like this
every week.

Gets complicated. I don't care. As long as I don't have to keep up with it.

Here is the simplest system I could come up with. Of course it would probably need some tweaking if used. But basically you would use two points scales one for the Top 5 drivers and one for the Non-Top 5 drivers. The two point scales could be similar its just that for the Non-Top driver scale you would subtract say 6 points from the Top 5 driver scale.
So for example something like this:
Top 5 Diver (or one with 3 or more wins in one class this season)
1st - 1pt
2nd - 2pts
3rd - 3pts...
...20th - 20pts.
Non-top 5 driver (or one with less than 3 wins in one class this season)
1st - (-5 pts)
2nd - (-4 pts)
3rd - (-3 pts)...
...20th - 14pts.
Basically you subtract 6 points from the Top 5 driver scale.
Again, just an idea.

I'll be more than happy to do it. I like what Dogwater proposes - but think that a draft would work best for that. I think a draft would be something no one wants - but nontheless the reward thought is truly sound. but would be it be better if it was for cars outside the top 10 - or better yet - if we had 3 picks AND a wildcard pick? the wildcard pick could count for 2 picks.
I still think the easiest way to score it would be to split everyone up into an equal # of leagues. like 50 people - 5 leagues of 10 - 49 people would be 5 leagues of 9. and to do it head-to-head round robin style with a playoff at the end. this eliminates 1 problem that could arise. and that would be having 6 of 10 players in a league with the same picks. If it was head-to-head...............then they could be risking a tie with the other player that week. Actually - I got a bit before I gotta crash - I'll post a draft of what this could look like.
TO EVERYONE - everything being posted in this thread isn't concrete. and - I think Bobcat agrees with me on this - IT WILL BE EXTREMELY SIMPLE AND EASY FOR ANYONE TO PLAY. The only part that will take effort by players will be determining who they pick. the rest of the effort will be scoring it and deciding upon a format that works best for everyone. and thats no problem. man I'm still glad Bobcat came up with the idea..........btw man my e-mail is [email protected]. No one should be discouraged that Bobcat, Dogwater, and myself (and others sure to follow) are talkin bout a slew of different stuff. For anyone who wants to play - it will mots likely be the simplest fantasy race league you could play. and easy enough to keep track while the races are goin' on - if you so wish.................

I have a question? What if your driver wins the "B", and then comes back and wins the "A". Does he recieve points for both races or will the points from the "B" drop and you'd just count the "A" points. Seems like the only points that should be awarded for the "B" should be for the cars that don't transfer. Otherwise every car that transfers will recieve points from both features.
