Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Event at Pike County Speedway Postponed by Rain

Magnolia, MS— February 16, 2008--By: Tony Veneziano, World of Outlaws PR Director

Persistent overnight rain and heavy showers continuing through this morning, with severe storms forecast throughout the day have forced the postponement of the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi originally schedule for tonight, February 16.

Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series officials and track officials are currently working on a makeup date which will be announced at a later date.

The World of Outlaws will return to action next weekend at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California with two nights of racing, on February 22 and 23.

After three nights of racing this season, three different drivers have earned A-Feature wins, with Craig Dollansky of Elk River, Minnesota on top of the championship standings by 10 points over Jason Meyers, with two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz in third, Joey Saldana in fourth and Terry McCarl in fifth.

Headquartered in Roanoke, Va., Advance Auto Parts is the second-largest retailer of automotive aftermarket parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items in the United States, based on store count and sales. As of October 6, 2007, the company operated 3,228 stores in 40 states, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The company serves both the do-it-yourself and professional installer markets.

boy I bet a ton of guys lost their ass ($$$) on that one. When will they start randomly criss-crossing the country?

Is there even another weekend they could add this race too? - off the top of my head - doesn't seem WoO run south of the Mason-Dixon that often. I guess maybe the Tennessee race? - are they runnin The Ditch again this year?

I don't have any idea how much rain they got. But you seem surprised when WoO and the track call a race? Aren't you use to it by now? Heavy track equals more wear on the engines.

Post is fine but your signature has to go.

With only one race scheduled for the weekend, why not schedule it for Friday night with Saturday and if needed Sunday, as rain dates?

You can't post your opinion about what your thoughts are on drivers. You have to be politically correct or somebody takes offense.

On the contrary - I believe most public forums have rules of decorum against vulgar speech and also about hate. If you don't like a particular driver you are allowed to state same. However - in my humble opinion - one's choice of language while doing so should be within socially accepted parameters, not be vulgar nor border on hate speech or slander.

Back to the original topic - it's a shame the WoO Sprints were rained out last night - I was looking forward to listening to it on DV - the WoO late model race was a very good one though. Watched it instead and it was a heckuva race.

David, Politically correct has nothing to do with it. The signature he used was not someone a fan of this sport would use. The topic was fine.

Just when I think the last race fan on Earth knows about the WoO 48 hour rule (which incidentally I'm not supporting), another knucklehead spouts off...

the outlaws ran the all star shows that were within 48 hrs and 250 miles of a woo show. the woo rule also says that you can't race without permission, of which no reasonable request would be refused.
