SPEED has learned that 2001 Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Danny Lasoski will drive for Guy Forbrook in the 2008 season.
An official announcement is expected Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Lasoski is competing in the 22nd Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.
However, he plans to begin the season in his own car for at least some of the upcoming races in Florida.
Last month, Lasoski, 48, was released by Roth Motorsports in favor of Shane Stewart. Forced to seek a ride just weeks before the dawn of a new campaign, Lasoski was scrambling to find sponsorship to fund his own team.
Nicknamed “The Dude,” the Dover, Missouri native, collected six A-feature wins this past year en route to a third-place finish in the championship standings behind titlist Donny Schatz and Joey Saldana.
A fiery competitor who is both loved and loathed by fans, Lasoski achieved some of his biggest success driving for Tony Stewart Racing this decade before joining Roth in 2006.
Lasoski is a 4-time winner of sprint car racing’s biggest prize, the Knoxville Nationals, and also competed with the IROC Series, where he won at Texas Motor Speedway in April 2004.
