NATIONAL SPRINT CAR MUSEUM TO HOST HBO PAY-PER-VIEW LIVE TELECAST OF LUCAS OIL CHILI BOWL MIDGET NATIONALS

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (January 9, 2008) - The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the HBO Pay-Per-View live telecast of Saturday’s 2008 Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. The museum foundation fundraiser, which will cost just $15 per person, will be held on the non-profit museum’s second floor. The doors will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 12, with the telecast originating from the Tulsa (Okla.) Expo Raceway in the QuikTrip Center beginning at 7 p.m. Central (8 p.m. Eastern). Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and ticket-holders will be allowed to bring their own food and drink. Amongst those 286 drivers that are entered in the Chili Bowl are Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Danny Lasoski, Terry McCarl, Joey Saldana, and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductees Sammy Swindell, Shane Carson and Ron Shuman. The event promoters are National Sprint Car Hall of Famers Lanny Edwards and Emmett Hahn.

According to museum director Tom Schmeh, “I would like to thank Donna Harris of the Dodge Chili Bowl Midget Nationals for initially directing us to Mediacom, and I’d like to thank Curt Snodgrass and Steve Purcell at Mediacom’s North Central Division for their help in making the necessary arrangements with the people at HBO PPV. Anyone who remembers our old Chili Bowl simulcasts will know how much fun it is to watch the chase for the Golden Driller trophy from our heated clubhouse overlooking the legendary Knoxville Raceway. In fact, it will serve as a tune-up of sorts for the June 20-21 United States Auto Club (USAC) sanctioned Knoxville Midget Nationals, which can also be viewed from the museum’s air-conditioned second floor.”

Those seeking more information on the museum’s HBO PPV telecast of the twenty-second annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals on Saturday, January 12, are encouraged to visit the museum’s web site at www.sprintcarhof.com. Those seeking more information on the event itself are encouraged to visit www.chilibowl.com. And those seeking more info on the June 20-21 Knoxville Midget Nationals should go to the Raceway’s web site at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.
