The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Southern Series will make their first ever appearance at Lake Country Speedway in Ardmore on Friday night, May 2nd. It will be the first in a two-race swing for the series as they will head to Cowtown Speedway in Kennedale, Texas the following night.
I figure there will be one heck of a modified field car count wise as Lake Country Speedways Jordan Page Winter Nationals had a little over forty cars each night back in October. Plus the fact that Ardmore is halfway between Dallas and OKC, I can personally see at least 70 cars during both nights and more than likely a standing room only crowd at both.
Kelly Shryock, who I say is the Steve Kinser of modified racing, Steve Hotlzkamper, Jason Hughes, Tommy Weder, Jr., Randy Timms, Greg Skaggs, Scott Green and the rest of the USMTS regulars should all be there along with OK/TX favorites Buddy Honacker, Travis Penrod, Tony Anderson, Paul and George White along with a host of others.
Stay tuned here to "tidbits" as I will post more information as I receive it. Just make sure you make your plans now.
David Smith Jr.
