I'm really surprised that someone hasn't went against the Race Saver 305 Series and came out with something better.

A Series that pays $1000 to win and $200 to Start.

An engine package that adds another 30-40 hp.

The 305 sprints were started by IMCA as a way to race and get experience at affordable costs, Knoxville had a 305 class but didnt take long before engine costs became an issue. The pro sprints seem to be around 15/18 cars and motor costs are around $16k+. The racesaver is best alternative for cost but in order to pay a higher purse need fan support and fans want to see biggest and best.  The race savers do good at Hussetts and have good field . Shorter tracks work best.

CT525. I'd also like the option of a built LS that makes similar horsepower, but most tracks aren't smart enough/don't want to tech them.

People balk at the 525's price, but I talked to a guy this summer with a 100-night 525 in.  Nothing but oil changes and one set of valve springs.  There's a track local to me that still runs the old Knoxville Open-305s. 525s have won against them.

In general we need to get over small cubic inch for the entry level class. Once you're using an aftermarket block and rotating assembly size all costs the same.  A really mind larger cubic inch engine wiould run longer and put on better races than a 305 IMO.
