I don't know why this would shock anyone if it happened. Is there really anyone out there that still believes Brad, Kyle, and Flo are doing the HL endeavour for good of the fans and sprint car racing? Or has everyone come to the realization that they are business people trying to stake a claim to someone else's territory? (as they should if they're truly good business people) I fully expect Brad to be negotiating with every single venue in the country! Eldora being #1 on the list since it appears to be the easiest to pry from the Outlaws and DV.
There are those that think it's not possible to pry Knoxville from DV. Bogus. Remember, all of this friendly competition is great for us as fans. Well, at least until one of the 2 series drives the other out of business and bankrupts itself doing so.

Egras come on man it is most certainly shocking to those that decry Johnny for not mentioning High Limit wink wink

Another one I heard is that HL is offering any WoO driver that finishes in the Top 3pts that moves to HL gets an automatic charter.
|
If any of these rumors have any merit at all - several questions:
1. What position will they be recorded in as each position I believe equals more money?
2. Will they now give a charter to the 55 who just let go of a driver for another one in a push to get to the NECESSARY 8th place ( until it's not) to get a charter?
3. For those that are shocked Johnny will not mention High Limit are you equally as shocked that the mid week series may be negotiating with the top three in outlaw points?
4. Are there any rumors that WRG is doing anything similar to directly attract HL cars to the WoO?

Disclaimer: I have no actual knowledge or proof of what I am going to say. In a court of law it would be hearsay and inadmissible. But, this isn't a court of law, it is a discussion forum and the topic is silly season. The following is what I've been told by some usually reliable sources.
The relationship between some of the Outlaw teams and WRG has been strained. This goes all the way back to last year when the schedule came out and Belleville was on it. Some of the teams were not enthused at all. They raised their concerns then and throughout the season. Some felt that their concerns were not being listened to or even taken seriously. When it was obvious the race was still going to happen, despite their concerns, a group of teams decided that they were going to boycott the race. WRG, at that point, had no other choice but to cancel the race. It was kind of odd how they waited until the week of to cancel. By then though, the damage had already been done. Some teams felt slighted and had already started thinking about other options. I am in no way making any predictions or backing up what the OP said. I'm just stating what I've heard from sources that are usually pretty reliable in the sprint car world.
I really hope it's all smoke and no fire though. Despite what other people think, I think a strong World of Outlaws and a strong High Limit Series is good for everyone. More opportunity for drivers to follow a national touring series. More higher paying races. More opportunity for tracks to get a national touring series race. And more races for the fans. I don't see how that isn't a win for everyone.

"I think a strong World of Outlaws and a strong High Limit Series is good for everyone"
I don't think anyone can disagree with this. Where it gets sticky is how both can be strong at the same time and survive. How can they both be strong while fighting to take away tracks and events. How can they both be strong when the competing series is going to have to always make the grass greener on the other side of the fence. I don't think there is enough to go around in this niche sport, but you're not wrong with your blanket statement. If they can find a way for both to remain strong, it would be better for everyone. Unfortunately, where they are right now, fighting for venues, the top drivers, etc. etc. it only weakens both. I don't think either can get healthy until the other is gone.

Yea I think High Limit is realizing the pie is too small and they need take some territory. The charter for a top 3 in WoO points plus negotiating with Knoxville (if true and who would question the Truth Detector) are signals of that.

Two series make it possible for both to carry about 12-14 teams on their rosters. Anyone outside of the top eight with High Limit will not get a charter and they have to stay in charter territory for two consecutive seasons as near as I can see. The WoO pays tow money and end of year bonuses at their banquet based on the current year. HL has not paid a penny in charter money and the charter system they emulate had issues in NASCAR resulting in lawsuits.
High Limit is rumored to be throwing money around that is likely backed by Flo and their sponsor Interstate Battery. Very few of their midweek series shows draw large crowds when Larson isn't there and he is done for the season when the NASCAR chase starts. Rico seems willing to step into the role of HL most popular driver when Larson isn't there. It's interesting to watch but I won't make any predictions.

If I had to earn my charter by following all of theever changing rules and remain committed to the HL, I would sue somebody if the HL gave a charter to anyone who didn't gain theirs the same way. They are too valuable to be treated like licorice for kids. And with all that said, I wouldn't be surprised if the charter was actually a carrot. I suspect the rules will change so the tram get much less than they expect.

Brad and Kyle never lie.

I'm hearing that all of the WoO teams will be jumping ship to High Limit in 2027, thereby leaving dsc1600 to sit there with all of his many "greatest show on dirt" tshirts in tears.

Your sources are a little off. All the WoO late model guys are jumping to the new High Limit Late Model Series. Their motto: "Two's company three's a crowd. Come crowd wth us".
Also hearing Schatz might be at some of the HL-LMS weeknight races in a Tony Stewart car on the dates that Carson Hocevar has NASCAR commitments.
It's my understanding that the first 15 big name drivers that sign up get a charter, starting in 2030, providing they race in every series race until then and finish top 13 in points 3 years in a row. See fine print for details, or talk to your lawyer if the thoughts of a H-L late model series lasts more than 4 hours.

Spending millions to help HL sustain their series of midweek races with good purses has helped the racers. There are a few teams that are traveling with both series that arent the calibur of local teams in order to have enough cars to have a field of cars for the weekly shows , At least the lappers get a decent check to keep going. Nice to have 2 series as the top drivers in both series are very close. The $100K races need the best of both series to pay big money. Brad and Kyle are not the money but when Kyle shows up it helps as He and Corey bring fans to both series. Flo hopes to be big winner and they are expecting something back.

Eldora is already a Flo track. The only races on Dirtvision are the WoO races, everything else on Flo.
