Whether you're a Kyle Larson fan, or an anti-fan, I think most can agree on a few things about last night's race.
-Larson is the most talented sprint car racer currently racing.
-Larson is driving one of the best cars out there
-Larson was the fastest car on the track, making up something like a 5 second deficit in a half dozen laps.
-Larson was going to pass Timms. I think everybody- including Timms saw that coming..
-Larson had already passed about 9 other cars without  bonking into them.

Why couldn't he just pass Timm clean and be done with it?

In a separate, later interview I watched, Larson said he wasn't completely sure how many laps were left so he felt like it might be his last opportunity to make a move. I've been to Osky several times in the past and I don't recall a video board or a lap counter like many tracks have that drivers can see this info on. I could be wrong.

He'll be in south central Iowa these next few days. Look him up and ask him that yourself.

Wonder why the OP didn't start a thread to ask the same thing sbout Brady Bacon the night before? Timms didn't get junked, didn't get wrecked, didn't get knocked out of the race and certainly did not get injured.

Brady Bacon's driving in the first turn of the first lap of a heat race junked a car and actually hurt a driver, yet there is not nearly the pearl clutching that there has been over Larson's move.

Do you put any blame on Timms when he admitted that his car was running out of fuel and stumbling? That alone could easily let someone misjudge a slider.

I'd love to know the concensus on this - I've watched the clips about 50 times and came to the conclusion that it's shared fault/closer to a racing incident than pinning it on one.

Brady definitely tried cutting down but Macri blew it in on the bottom and missed it completely. If I had to assign %'s I'm going probably a little more in Macri's favor than Brady's.

On the point of pearl clutching, if Brady had went in and just cleaned Macri up, then you'd be a little more on point, but it at worst seems like making a mistake as opposed to being over aggressive. Different situations.

I have watched it many times, and talked to many people including race car drivers and you have a way different take on that than any of them.

I suppose so - just went back and watched it again a few times. Still see the 39M missing the bottom and meeting the 21 a few lanes off the bottom.

Yeppers, at those speeds they don't always stick..even with the barn door on top of them.

OK. That makes some sense. He's usually a lot smoother in passing, so maybe given the circumstances, this was an anomaly.

If you dodn't know, or dodn't have an opinion to offer, I guess not replying would have been an option as well. Smile

Awe, you don't have to refer to me in the third person.  I hear Murphy is not opposed to talking right out loud about sprint cars.

I didn't start a thread about Brady Bacon because that seemed like an entirely different ordeal. On one hand, Larson is the hottest sprint car racer on the planet right now. He was flying around Osky and should have had no problem passing Timms and leaving.

Bacon, on the other hand, seemed like he was trying to perform magic at the beginning of a heat race and it didn't work. I can't recall seeing Bacon ever win a race, but I think his calling is non-wing?

That's an interesting thought. Thank you starting a onversation. That's what message boards used to be for.

I really don't put any blame, so to speak, on either driver. I just wonder why Larson didn't just make a smooth pass like he usually does. He had the speed, and he has the talent. If Timms' car was sputtering, it seems like that would have made it easier and quicker for Larson to pass him.

A couple questions for sprint car people-
Can a car race the last 4 laps at top speed, sputtering and running out of gas? I would have figured that a 410 motor just sucks in the fuel at a rapid pace until it's gone.

If sprint car nose wings are narrower than the front tires, and behind the front nose bar, how did Larson's car bend the wing on Timms' car without breaking Timms' front axle or popping Larson's right rear tire?

You ask a lot of questions about sprint cars and the racing, I'd be pretty sure you know how to use an internet search engine? Would you rather create meaningless dilalogue here instead of looking things up? Or are you just a perpetual pot stirring thingy.

Not sure how to reply because I'm not sure if you're serious. If you have a link to anything that would answer either of those questions, I'd really appreciate it if you'd share it.

I'm  fairly certain that asking questions and talking about sprint car racing on a sprint car rading message board is really not a bad thing.
