Hate to be that guy that brings up the "R" Word when it involves racing... But, what happens if they cant get multiple days in? I know they have run afternoon races and they have run Sundays before. But with the weather chances this week it doesnt look good for ANY day. I cant seem to find anything online.

Oh no I was just watching highlights of the 1987 'Water Nationals' the other day. They did have to squeeze in some day time racing that year

Yeah forecast looks pretty rough. If a single night gets rained out they do a good job of shifting schedules. If we lose 2 then things really get jacked up. Hope for the best and the rains happen late night, early morning.

If they lose a qualifying night, I have never seen them reschedule the qualifying night as a day race.  They will reschedule for the next dry night.  If they can get both qualifying nights in by the end of the night Friday, they will reschedule the Friday night show for Saturday afternoon (if dry) and revert back to the old format where they lock in the up to 10th in the C and Friday's show becomes 11th in the C on back.  Then, they will run the championship night on time.

In the couple of instances I've been there where they could not get the saturday night show done on saturday night, they waited to run under the lights on Sunday night.  I'm sure its fluid, and if there was that scenario, and more weather called for on Sunday night, I would bet they would consider a Sunday afternoon finale.  

They will do the best they can, I can tell you that from all of my years of attending.  Last year, we got 3 inches of rain overnight wednesday night, and they raced pretty much without a hiccup on Thursday.  While there is a great chance of rain each day, it's going to be about the timing, the amount, etc, etc.  That should start to take shape soon.  Here's what they're showing now:

Wednesday:  GFS and Euro models still not in agreement.  (This should tell you how difficult it is to predict when this is now only 48 hours out)   GFS model says we are in the clear Wednesday night and rain out of the area all night.  The Euro model shows clear at 6:00 and storms forming by 9:00 and potential for heavy rain overnight

Thursday:  GFS model shows it raining at 6:00 p.m., with heavy rain possible before midnight, and leaving after that.  The Euro model shows clear at 6:00 and 9:00 with storms rolling in by midnight again.  

Friday:  GFS model shows light to moderate rain showers in the area all evening.  Euro model shows light rain showers staying to the north of Knoxville all night friday night

Saturday:  GFS model shows clear from noon to midnight.  Euro model shows clear all day with storms developing to the north of I-80 after 9:00 p.m.---just like last year.  

This will change a lot-probably by this evening.  No matter what, follow social media and listen to the radio and be prepared on any day for a "hot laps at 3 pm" announcement!
