I like to follow the power rankings in all sports, and Bill V. calls them the power ratings.  You have to kind of weed through the info a bit, but you can make some pretty good determinations based off of these ratings.  The past few weeks have shown something I don't believe we have really seen much of in the past decades of winged-410's.  David, Buddy, and A-Aron have all had the top spot in his ratings if I'm not mistaken.  And, if we looked at the ratings just a tad different, and looked more at RIGHT NOW, vs. taking the entire season, I think you could add Sheldon, Rico, and a healthy Macri to the list of guys one could make an argument is the toughest in the country right now.  (Sorry Chase Dietz fans, he is the "weed through the info a bit" guy on my list---gotta see him win some big races with everyone in town, not just a car or 2, and win a couple of races somewhere else---I hope he does, because he's fun to watch for sure, but just not there yet on my list)

That 18 car with Sheldon in it is about as tough right now as any car in the country.  (And it doesn't hurt that they roll it in the hauler each night vs. have the wrecker drop it in front of the ramp)  Rico and RW were simply not that good at the start of the season, but seem to unload a fast car every night now.  And Macri, prior to the injury, proved he is a worthy top-3 car in the country, and he has begun to get back to his winning ways, and hopefully will continue to heal.

So Bill V.---when was the last time we had 3 full-time guys on the top of the power ratings for winged-410's at the midpoint of the season?  And everyone else, when was the last time you could ask the question:  "who is the best full-time sprint car driver/team in the country right now?" and you could get 6 legitimate arguments?   Or, a better way to put it, "who is the car you expect to be the best overall in the month of money?"  I think there are 6 guys on the list, and we haven't even added in the part-time wildcards of Larson, Sweet, and Day, nor the regional powerhouses of Timms and Dietz.

It's gonna be a good month.  I think the competition in 2026 is off the charts.  Smile

Great points egras and this is a great post for a Friday.  Got my reminder from recreation.gov earlier this week reminding me of my Knoxville trip in a month.  And any day now, a thread will pop up on the forum tracking the number of entries for the Nationals.  This next month is awesome!

Can't argue with any of your picks, especially when most of them are all good at the Month of Money tracks.  Add in Schuchart, Sunshine and a dark horse(?!) like Donny Schatz and the next month should have some awesome racing.

Yes, thought about adding Schuchart in there too as he has definitely been turning up the wick lately.

We just had our tickets out on the kitchen table last night counting to make sure they were all in order!!!  wink    I'm going out for the 360 finale, the Cappy, then heading home Monday morning, and turning around and heading back out Wednesday morning for the main events!!!  And I cannot wait!!!
